Teacher Training
Train with The London School of Enterprise to become a teacher of the future
All teachers, tutors, trainers and assessors who teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector/Higher
Education Sector are now required to obtain Associate Teacher Status (ATLS). With the new
guidelines issued by the UKBA, and the change of inspection body, ALL Tutors/Lecturers will
need to have achieved this qualification or be registered on a CTLLS course before inspection.
As part of our commitment to providing you with the right training, The London School of
Enterprise is delivering PTLLS, CTLLS, and DTLLS.

PTLLS
Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector - 30 hours of taught
sessions (6 credits)
This award provides a useful form of recognition of teaching ability and culminates in a
theoretical and practical teaching skills assessment. PTLLS is offered at Level 3 or Level 4 and
can be used as a foundation qualification, and as a stepping stone to CTLLS.

CTLLS
Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector - 120 contact hours and
120 non-contact hours, recommended for support time, developmental
activities, research, self-study and teaching practice
CTLLS is for those who:

Are deemed to be in an Associate Teacher role, or

Would like, or require, an introduction to teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector, or

Are seeking career progression within their area of work,

Have access to 30 teaching practice hours,

Teach on a one to one and / or group basis,

Are trainers in the industry?

This award is designed to develop your professional capabilities in becoming a self-evaluative


and reflective education professional, planning, resourcing and managing, assessing and
evaluating learning in your specialist area. Youll build your understanding of the Lifelong
Learning Sector and how you might play an active role in its future development by working as
part of a team of education professionals.

In addition to working as an Associate Teacher in the Sector and being observed throughout
this time, you will study the following:

Preparing to Teach

Planning and Enabling Learning

Principles and Practice of Assessment

Delivering Employability Skills

There will be one theory and one practical assessment for each unit at Level 3 or Level 4.

DTLLS
Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector - This course is designed
to provide theoretical and practical knowledge and understanding for those
who wish to gain QTLS - Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills.
DTLLS will be run over an 18 month period. It is 360 contact hours, 150 teaching hours and
you will be working at Level 5. A further 840 hours is recommended for non-contact time,
which will cover individual tutorial support, research, self study and teaching practice.

Theories and principles for planning and enabling learning (15 credits)

Continuing personal development (15 credits)

Curriculum design for inclusive practice (15 credits)
