Why is Hope Central

committing it's time, money
and team to this project?

“Debt is the slavery of the free.” Anyone

would think that quote was said last week
instead of 2000 years ago from the lips of a
slave freed by his master. Everywhere we look
more and more people are losing their lives
because if debt, some literally. Hope Central is
committed to being part of the solution and
finding creative ways to free people from what
is stealing their destiny. Christians Against
Poverty is the most effective debt solution in
Australia, a free service to get people out of
the prison of debt and teach them the skills to
remain free. We are committing our best
people, taking a huge financial risk, and
investing hundreds of hours of our time to
making freedom from debt a reality for the
people of Playford.

Why this is a three year commitment?

There is no quick fix for debt, so are we in it for the long haul? It takes only minutes to get into debt, but years of
discipline and hard work to break the shackles. Hope Central realizes that it takes a long-term perspective to re-train
people and keep them encouraged in their journey to freedom. Any business knows that it takes long range planning
to bring the best things to the market and see the rewards. Thatʼs why we are assigning and committing huge
resources for years to come to keep this vital work supported. We hope you will dig in with us in the fight against this
modern-day slave-master. In the civil war waged in America to free the African slaves, the soldiers sang “The Battle
Hymn of the Republic” which contains these stirring words, “As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men
free.” It takes a long-term commitment to change the world.

David Washington

Meet our management team.

David Washington - David has post graduate business
training and has worked within the commercial and
social sectors. He has worked for the University of
Adelaide in roles that involved teaching, research and
management. He has also worked as a Rural Financial
Counsellor providing a confidential, free service to assist
primary producers, small rural businesses and others in
a diverse range of areas such as Centrelink issues,
government assistance schemes, requirements of lending
institutions, farm succession planning and financial
counselling.

His experience extends through other roles to financial

counselling individuals and teaching short courses on
money management and budgeting for individuals and
Households.

David is committed to providing excellence through

continued personal and professional development and
sets himself the highest standards for integrity, honesty
and professionalism. He has the experience to relate
and communicate to clients on all levels, enabling him to
build rapport and trust through constantly being aware
of the clientʼs individual needs.

Testament to Davidʼs professionalism is that he was

handpicked to join the CAP team at Hope Central.
He is looking forward to working with such a successful
organisation as CAP to provide what is a highly needed
service to the community of Playford and surrounding
districts.

David said “The service provided by the CAP centre will

enable many people and families in desperate situations
to, with dignity, find solutions to their financial position
and free themselves of the burden of debt.”

Kevin Hodges

Meet our management team.

Kevin Hodges - Kevin is a successful businessman who,
14 years ago, established a real estate agency specialis-
ing in residential and commercial rental management.
Starting with one office in Salisbury, the business has
grown to include a second office at Munno Para. The
Company today employs some thirteen staff, which
gives Kevin a great deal of pride in creating employ-
ment for local people. The business trades as Lin
Andrews Real Estate-Northern.

Kevin has a great passion to see people do well in their

lives and careers. To this end he conducts seminars on
property investment and spends a lot of time encourag-
ing and teaching people how to prosper in all areas of
their lives.

He has been a member of Hope Central since 2001,

having served in leadership roles in a number of
churches around South Australia for many years before
that. Part of his role at Hope Central is teaching on
money management and debt reduction. He is currently
on the Leadership Board of the church and is the
Treasurer.

He is a trained CAP Debt Counsellor and is assistant

leader to David Washington in the local Elizabeth CAP
Centre.

Kevin is married to Jacqui and together they have four

adult children and nine grandchildren.

The Elizabeth Cap Centre will predominantly target the local

Playford area, such as Elizabeth, Blakeview, Munno Para and
Craigmore.
