Good morning respected esteemed guests professors and students.

Today we have the


privilege to be in the company of a very renound professor and researcher of Indian origin
Dr. Harcharam Singh Ranu. Professor Harcharan Singh Ranu, President at American
Orthopaedic Biomechanics Research Institute, Atlanta, Georgia, USA was the first of his kind
M.Sc in the United Kingdom and of the University of Surrey, Battersea London Campus of the
Department of Mechanical Engineering. He did his M.Sc. in the area of biomechanics
studying the cartilage under tensile loads. He completed his doctorate form the university of
Westminster & Midlesex hospital medical school, London England on effects of Ionization
Irradiation under mechanical properties of skin including breast cancer. Contributing for the
society he has excelled in the field of biomechanics and bioinformatics.
His experience as a professor and researcher is is something dreams are made of. Currently
is the president cum professor at the American orthopedic biomechanics research institute
Atlanta, Georgia since 2001. From where he has been spearheading this teaching and
research in bioengineering, orthopedics biomaterials spine biomechanics sports
biomechanics and other related fields. He is currently an esteemed member of vesting
professors & Adjunct Professors for various universities all over the world and in India, some
which include USSR Academy of science, Moscow, Kings College medical school London,
United nations University Tokyo and many, many more.

Dr. Ranu has also been the Head & Professor at the Dept. Of Bioinformatics New York College
of Osteopathic Medicine Of New York Institute of Technology. His responsibilities were broad
spectrum comprising of budgeting & stregy planning to Policy making as Dean Policy
committee to acquiring funds from various federal and state agencies.
His other administrative experiences and accomplishments include being the director of
Doctor program in bioengineering/biomechanics / health sciences; Development of doctoral
program in bioinformatics, responsible for student recruitments, retention financial aid and
advising to mention a few in a long list of responsibilities. One of the most prestigious
feathers in his hat was working on WHOs research project on lower back pain.
His list of publications and other research achievements is never ending and we are all
proud that a professor from Indian origin has accomplished so much and has taken time out
of his busy schedule to enlighten us today.
