[2010] 2nd Grade English Introduction- Lesson 1 3/4/2010

Week 1-1
Learning Expectations/Objectives:
To get to know each other
To understand the classroom rules, procedures and consequences.
To learn create a name card
Focus Area of Learning:
Class expectations and guidelines, classroom directions/commands

Guided Learning Steps Materials Time
Introduction/Warm-up: -Seating
1. Have Sts line up and divide a class into 4 groups. 2 girls and 2 boys are one Chart
group. 10

Take time to tell ss about yourself. Bring 3 items. (e.g.- favorite food, clothing, 5

1. Have students make a name card with their name and decorate the card. -Scotch tape

2. Use a ball to throw to students and ask them the question, “What’s your -Ball
name?” (Write on board). Have students answer, “My name is __________.”

Closure:
1. Give the groups a marble for their jar. Give an extra marble for any
exceptional groups

2. Have students line up outside of class according to their groups. Ask each
student the dismissal question: What’s your name? A: My name is… Have
students enter classroom and sit in their regular seats.
