Thesis Statement : Researchers have identified the reasons why success eludes some people and
the ways to achieve success by studying successful individuals.

PARAGRAPH 2
Topic sentence : The first contributing factor to being an unsuccessful person is being afraid of
success.
Supporting details :
1) Being successful means stepping out of ones comfort zone.
2) Some people unconsciously sabotage their own success by adamantly remaining in their
cocoon.
3) They do not want others to have high expectations of them once they are outside their
comfort zones.

Topic sentence: The second contributing factor to a lack of success is people lack confidence.
Supporting details:
1) It is due to their family upbringing, being a victim of abuse or a lack of exposure to
encouragement and positive nurturing during their childhood.
2) These adults may have been condemned, criticized or discriminated when they were
children.
3) Once they are adults, they become timid and cowardly.

Topic sentence: The third contributing factor of failing to succeed is the inability to identify and
seize opportunities.

1) Individuals sometimes fail to utilize opportunities around them, as the opportunities seem
insignificant.
2) Many individuals are usually reluctant to take a chance at the insignificant opportunities
that require them to work hard.
3) Opportunities are easily detected when people are ready and prepared for them.

1) A successful person knows what he wants.
2) A successful person aware of the skills that he lacks and is prepared to learn necessary

3) If the person wants to own a Laundromat, he is willing to apprentice at a laundromat in
order to learn necessary skills.

1) The person would read up on his mentor.
2) He would know his mentors plans and course of actions.
3) He would study his mentors successful habits, success stories and learning events.
4) He willing to spend money attending courses and conferences to learn from his mentor and
ask his mentor to coach him personally.

1) The person would continuously check his performance.

2) Record all his developments and assess his short-term and long-term goals.
