Introduction. If we consider home as the reflection of our

heart then door is the entrance to that heart. Thus the need
of doors to be lucrative is of great significance/importance.
Doors not only reflect our taste but also the 1st
impression of the visitors are provided by the doors.
Windows serve as small pearls of our heart. Windows
have several significant roles. Primarily they help filtering and
ventilation air and sunlight , even as they provide passage to
it.

General Information. Before going to the market survey

portion of this quantity survey presentation let us have a
short run down on Doors and Windows.
Doors.
Broadly classified as exterior or interior.
Wood, metal, plastic, glass, or a combination of these
materials are used to manufacture doors.
Followings are the considerations for selecting doors:

Cost
Protection/Privacy
Esthetics/Architectural Style
Windows.
An opening in the wall or roof of a building fitted with
glass in a frame to admit light or air and allow people
to see out.

Doors. Basically there are 4 types of doors usually used in our

country. They are

Wooden doors are used for internal purposes as well as

external purposes.
There are different types of wooden doors. Some are
normal and some are esthetic values. The prices of these
vary with woods qualities. As the price of wood increases

its price also increases. The price also vary with the quality
of design and sizes.

Usually Thai Aluminum and plastic doors are not used in

our country for external purposes. They are basically used
for internal uses as
Toilet
Kitchen etc.
Thai Aluminums are frequently used as doors and
windows. It`s price for per sqft is 250 tk. Generally for 7*7
its price becomes 10,000tk. Thai aluminum also used for
ventilation inside washroom.

Plastic doors are usually used for washroom. It has also

different types. It has different sizes and shape and also
used for different purposes.

But it is not only used for beautification, it has proper

a building. It can be of various types. Different types of

Peep Hole. In a door, a peephole allows people staying
inside to see outside without opening the door. Glass
peepholes are often fitted with a fisheye lens to allow a
wider field of view from the inside and little to no visibility
from the outside.

Windows. An opening in the wall of a building commonly

fitted with a frame and panes of glass or any other device by
which it is closed.

This dimensions can be changed with the choice of the

customers. But we normally estimate the market price with
this typical dimensions.
Types of windows.
Wooden Window. Completely made with
wood or remarked with steel frames or sometimes the
frame is made with wood and the inner portions are
filled with glasses.
Price per unit is approximately from 5000 upto
20000 tk.
Steel Window. Normally made with steel at
its outside frames and there are transparent glasses in
the inner parts.
Price per unit of steel is 110 sqft
Thai Aluminium Window. At the modern age
the use of thai aluminium glasses at window is more
favourable, because of its nature of transparency .
Its Price is 250 tk per sqft without grill and with grill
it is 350 tk per sqft.
Components of window
Glasses of Thai Aluminium. Price is 250 tk per
sqft and with grill 350 tk per sqft.

 Normal glass of windows. Used in modern

wooden windows & steel windows also.
Grills. Different types of grills used in windows
of all characters.Market price is 110 tk per sqft.

Recommendation. From our practical experiences during

market survey, the following recommendations are provided:
It is better to use plastic doors in kitchens and toilets
instead of wooden doors as the wooden doors would
become damp in contact with water.
The doors and windows available in our country are all
Chinese and they are not durable. So it is recommended
for main door that we can use Burma Shegun woods of
aristocratic design. For room doors, we can use
Burma/Chittagong Shegun as well .
In case of windows, it is recommended to use reflective
glasses or insulated glasses for reducing green house
effect.
Many windows should be provided in a house for proper
ventilation of air.
It is best to use more south facing windows for more
circulation of fresh air.
In our table, we have shown the unit price, but incase of
construction of a total building, the cumulative cost gets
reduced.
Conclusion. For last 12 minutes or so we have seen the short
presentation on doors and windows.
The market values shown are just collected sample data.
The design and cost limit will obviously vary according to the
taste and financial ability of the users. Higher the cost,
obviously better will be the quality.
