Title
In MLA format, the whole paper is double spaced, including the heading. The title is
centered below the heading. You do not add italics, underlining, or bold fonts to your words in a
title. Notice that there are no extra spaces before or after the title. Your thesis should be at the
end of the first paragraph.
When youre ready to start the second paragraph, begin with an indent right below the
first paragraph. Notice that there are no extra spaces. Your paper should be written in Times New
Roman size 12. Use the 1 margins.
Please work all quotes into the grammar of your sentence (Bishop 1). Please note, the
period goes after the cite tag. This is true even if you have a question mark or exclamation point
in the quote. If you want to quote dialogue, Mr. Bishop said, you should use single marks
around it in addition to the double marks! (Bishop 2).

page. Highligt your entries and use the ruler at the top and move the small bottom
triangle over to half an inch to get the hanging indent like this paragraph. Put
everything in alphabetical order by the first word of each entry.

Bible Verse
In your first parenthetical citation, you want to make clear
which Bible you're using (and underline or italicize the title),
as each version varies in its translation, followed by book (do
not italicize or underline), chapter and verse.
For example: Ezekiel saw "what seemed to be four living
creatures," each with faces of a man, a lion, an ox, and an eagle
(New Jerusalem Bible, Ezek. 1.5-10). If future references
employ the same edition of the Bible youre using, list only the
book, chapter, and verse in the parenthetical citation.
