Learners are asked to discuss in groups and write a
paragraph about the noise pollution that is threatening
the lives of marine animals. Why do you think that noise
is a threat to those animals?

Knowledge

Learners will have knowledge about the characteristics of


mammals. They will be able to differentiate mammals from
other animals, and they will know that we do have mammals in
our homes. There are wild animals and marine animals that are
mammals. Female mammals have glands that produce milk,
just like a human being and their young ones are fed. Learner
will know animal sounds and their habitant e.g. a dog live in a
kennel. They will know that mammals are warm blooded this
means that the temperature of their bodies stays the same in
both hot and cold weather. They will also know about a bird
that falls under the mammals. They will be able to name the
marine mammals like Dolphins and be able to identify things
that pollute the water and threaten the lives of mammals. The
will know that there are mammals who rely on noise for
communication. They will know about mammals that lay eggs
e.g. platypus with its rich fur and funny bill and feet. Platypus
has reptile features. Male platypus makes poison and it uses its
spurs to stab you, but its poison does not kill. Learners will
know how to take care of animals and how to protect them.

Skills

Learners will have the listening and speaking skills, e.g.


listening to animal sounds in the radio, TV etc. Learners
develop speaking, listening, thinking and language
usage when they are engaged in group discussion.
Writing, research skills will develop when they are given
tasks to look for information in the internet and to write
or complete a written task.

Values and attitudes

Learners will be able to love and value animals. They


will respect them. They will be aware that animals need
to live like any other creature and they need to be fed.
When the animal is sick they will know that it needs to
see a doctor and they must be able to take it to the vet.
They must value animals because we get many things
from animals like dairy products. Learners will protect
the animals.
