Biografa de Manuelita Senz

Manuela Senz naci en Quito el 27 de diciembre de 1797. Sus padres fueron


Simn Senz y Mara de Aizpuru. Su madre muri al darle a luz, por lo que
creci
en
un
convento
de
monjas.
A los 17 aos huy y a los 19 se cas con James Thorne, un mdico ingls
veintisis aos mayor que ella. La boda se realiz en Lima, ciudad donde se
uni
a
los
patriotas
que
conspiraban
por
la
independencia.
En 1821 regres a Quito y en junio de 1822 ella conoci a Simn Bolvar y se
enamor del Libertador, convirtindose en su amante, en 1823 lo acompa al
Per y lo apoy durante la campaa final por la independencia.
Cuando ella regreso a la Gran Colombia, ella salv la vida de Simn Bolvar de
un atentado. Simon Bolivar agradecido, la llam la "Libertadora del Libertador".
Cuando muri su amado, en 1830, "Manuelita" se exili en varios pases hasta
que se instal en Paita, al norte del Per. Ella falleci el 23 de noviembre de
1856.

Manuela Saenz was born in Quito on December 27, 1797. His parents were
Simon and Mary Saenz Aizpuru. His mother died giving birth to her, so she
grew up in a nunnery.
At 17 she fled and 19 married James Thorne, an English doctor twenty-six years
her senior. The wedding was held in Lima, the city where the patriots conspired
for independence.
