Summary Exercise:
Synthesis of the fundamental concepts on Quality Management
1. Question
Begin by summarizing in one A4 page (maximum of 2 pages) the main concepts and ideas
you retained after the lectures dedicated to the fundamentals of quality management and
reading the various presented study cases and text slides.
In the second part of your assignment, which also should not occupy more than two A4
pages, establish a parallel connection between the ideas presented in class and the reality of
FEUPs education (or of any other higher education institution you know well). In particular:
Identify the methods, procedures and operating rules which allow the institution to ensure
the quality of its degrees, and relate them to product and process oriented quality
assurance.
Try to establish a parallel relation between the evolution of Peugeots production system
described in the study case and the evolution of the teaching/learning process which is
being experienced in higher education since a few years ago.
Identify the various types of quality costs (explicit and hidden) which occur in a higher
education institution such as FEUP and, within the possibilities, try to estimate a range of
values for those costs.
2. Assignment submission
If you are going to attend class other than the one you signed up for in Sigarra, in the file
name you should state the day and time of the class you will attend.
Submit your assignment in Moodle (if you still arent signed up at the course, email your work
to the teacher with subject: GQT | QM Summary) until the eve of your next practical class.
insert a picture of yourself (preferentially Sigarras) also in the beginning of the sheet
