In!the!past!few!years!I!have!started!to!realize!that!we!Indians!are!a!confused!lot,!deprived!of!rational!thinking,!
and!having!an!opinion!on!everything.!The!recent!chain!of!events!goes!beyond!to!prove!my!claim.!When!I!read!
about!the!killing!of!a!man!in!Dadri!on!the!pretext!of!him!eating!beef,!I!couldnt!help!but!wonder!what!was!a!
bigger!sin,!that!a!cow!was!killed!for!hunger!or!a!man!was!killed!for!hunger.!The!God!that!pronounced!a!Cow!
as!sacred!forgot!to!bestow!the!same!prestige!to!us!humans.!
!
Cows!with!goats!have!been!sacrificed!as!offerings!to!the!mighty!Gods!to!please!them.!But!suddenly!it!becomes!
food!for!politics!when!it!is!found!on!someones!plate.!
!
Not!too!far!back!chicken!was!banned!during!the!Jain!festival!for!period!of!9!days.!The!no.!of!days!for!ban!have!
been!a!topic!of!discussion.!Again!this!was!done!in!the!name!of!hurting!religious!sentiments.!

Where!are!we!going!with!these!Bans?!Does!this!curb!our!freedom!to!choose!what!we!eat!or!does!it!help!pull!
reins!of!the!people!and!steer!them!in!a!direction!which!is!deemed!fit.!Courts!of!the!country,!elected!members!
of! the! parliament,! invest! precious! time! and! resources! deciding! on! what! the! people! can! or! cannot! eat! when!
there!are!much!grave!things!to!be!thought!about.!I!strongly!feel,!what!I!eat!is!between!My!God!and!Me.!

Another! thing! I! noticed! was! that! we! celebrate! Navratri! (Nine! Devi! /! Goddesses),! Kanjka! and! half! a! dozen!
other!days!highlighting!the!importance!of!females.!But!rest!of!the!year!we!keep!hearing!about!the!abuse!of!
females!whether!in!the!foetus!or!outside!in!one!form!or!the!other.!For!nine!days!how!can!we!suddenly!forget!
the!atrocities!women!are!subjected!to!throughout!the!year.!Does!our!God!forgive!us!just!because!we!kneel?!

The! world! is! shrinking! with! the! digital! age! and! people! have! quicker! and! easier! access! to! information! and!
more! exposure! to! the! world.! From! using! smart! devices! to! wearing! them,! we! have! come! quite! far! in! this!
century.!Awakened!and!enlightened!we!march!ahead,!however!deep!inside!the!people!havent!changed!much!
in!their!thoughts!and!beliefs.!Years!and!years!of!seasoning!is!deeply!grouted!in!our!system!and!people!find!
solace!in!it.!Human!mind!works!in!mysterious!ways.!It!conveniently!justifies!its!own!acts!to!suit!its!own!ways.!
Right!and!wrong!are!for!others!not!for!us.!Or!maybe!we!never!truly!learnt!to!draw!a!line.!

As!per!the!charter!of!rights!contained!in!the!Constitution!of!India,!all!Indians!are!guaranteed!of!civil!liberties!
to!lead!a!life!in!peace!and!harmony!with!one!another!as!citizens!of!India.!The!nine!fundamental!rights!include!
right! to! equality,! right! to! freedom,! right! against! exploitation,! right! to! freedom! of! religion,! cultural! and!
educational! rights,! right! to! constitutional! remedies,! right! to! education! and! right! to! information.! The! recent!
events!seem!to!mock!these!rights!and!create!a!new!category!for!discrimination.!

There!is!no!end!in!sight!and!no!one!knows!the!reason!!!
