JOB DESCRIPTION DEPUTY MEDICAL SUPERINTENDENT

Specific Responsibilities

To ensure excellent delivery of the patient care as per defined


standards and objectives.

To benchmark services to the best of the institution around and


achieve the standards in a specified time period.

SWOT analysis of the existing systems, processes and


recommendations for improvement and implementations.

Generation of daily and monthly MIS

Develop and encourage new ideas of innovations for competitiveness.

To ensure the display of promotional literature at appropriate places in


coordination with other departments like marketing etc.

To ensure functional status of infrastructure in coordination with other


departments

To ensure excellent delivery of the patient care as per defined


standards and objectives.

To ensure upkeep of the area as per the defined standards of the


institution.

To ensure optimum excellence in service, client satisfaction and


planned profitability

To ensure functional status of infrastructure in the designated area in


coordination with other departments

To ensure upkeep of the area as per the defined standards of the


institution.

OPD Operations
o

Regular interaction with stake holders like consultants, patients


attendants.

Ensure smooth operations in relation to all processes and


observing all TATs.

Analysis of patient flow processes and implementation of the


same.

To achieve high satisfaction index of all stake holders in the

respective areas.

Diagnostic services
o

To ensure smooth operation of diagnostic services

To ensure excellent customer handling through process


simplification, reduced TATs, and thorough counselling for
waiting period and emergency coordination.

To ensure better utilization of services by creating simple


mechanisms to guide patients to respective areas

To ensure excellent customer handling at respective desk/counters


b providing required information and improving interactive
behaviour.

To ensure timely report delivery from respective counters/central


despatch.

Operation Theatres
o

Ensure functional infrastructure and availability of Manpower i.e.,


24 hrs Duty roster check prepared by the heads of respective
departments, new manpower requirements.

Ensure smooth operations in relation to all processes and policies


of the Operation Theatres & Cath Lab.

Problem solving of the surgeons if any in the OT & Cath Lab


complex.

Feedback from the surgeons on smooth functioning of the OTs &


Cath Lab.

Monitoring all the functions of the CSSD and ensuring smooth


supply of sterilised equipments to all the departments of the
hospital.

Prepare and reporting on the OT & Cath Lab utilization rates

Planning and assessing the requirements of the equipments and


other infrastructural requirements of the OT & Cath Lab
Complex.

. In-Patient Areas
o

Ensuring smooth functioning of the IPD areas with maintaining


all the TATs as mentioned in the processes.

Ensuring that patients and attendants are aware of the medical

status as well as the bill status of the patients.


o

Responsible for the correctness of the patient medical records and


discharge summaries.

Responsible for maintaining all the policies and procedures of


NABH and dashboards.

Daily following up with nursing in charges of any problems


regarding Pharmacy / Diagnostics / other services.

ICUs
o

Ensuring smooth functioning of the ICUs with maintaining all the


TATs as mentioned in the processes.

Following up with nursing in charges of any problems regarding


Pharmacy / Diagnostics / other services.

Resolve any issues of patients regarding their bills.

Ensuring that patients and attendants are aware of the medical


status as well as the bill status of the patients.

Responsible for the correctness of the patient medical records and


discharge summaries.

Responsible for maintaining all the policies and procedures of


NABH and dashboards.

Emergency
o

Ensure attendance of the consultants in the emergency in the


stipulated time frame.

Ensure all the legal statutory requirements of the emergency.

Distribution of patients as per the specialities and regular training


of the CMOS

Functional management of the ambulances and recording of the


call and dispatch times. Prudent use of hospital ambulances as for
the purpose they are meant for.

Training
o

To ensure regular departmental training

To create customer centric approach in the organization through


various practices, awareness and training programs.

MRD
o

To ensure smooth operations of records department.

To comply with all the rules and regulations of the state with

respect to the medical records-PNDT reports/MTP


reports/infectious diseases reports/birth & death intimation etc.
