Purpose: To listen to a conference and identify the main ideas provided by
an expert.
Skills: Listening and Writing.
Grammar: Reported Speech and Verb Patterns.
Directions:
1. Go to www.ted.com and and find the conference How to spot a liar.
(The link is also available on Moodle)
2. Listen to the talk and write a summary of what you learned. Use the
following questions as a guide to work on your summary:

What were the speakers main ideas or points?
What did you find interesting about the presentation?
Do you agree with the conference speakers point of view?
Why or why not?
What is your opinion about this topic?

3. Use the answers from the previous part to write an essay. In your
essay, include four examples of Reported Speech and four examples
of Verb Patterns. Underline the examples.
4. Your essay should be between 180 and 200 words minimum. Write
the number of words at the bottom of the page.
5. You should bring the assignment printed on the due date. Remember
the following: font size 12 / 1.5 spacing / well presented / no cover
page needed.
6. You cannot use Internet translators to write entire paragraphs. Use
your own words. If theres any copy-pasted information in your
assignemnt, you will get a ZERO and there will be no chance
to do it again.
