Dear students, this assignment is based on Module 1,2, an 3.
1. What experience have you ever had to make your students enjoy studying the grammar of English ?
Does someone's grammar competence is greatly influenced by his/her reading ability?
2. Foreign language competence could easily be achieved by communicating with native speakers ?
3. How will you explain to your students that grammatically well-formed sentences may not always be
acceptable. (Kalimat yang benar belum tentu baik atau berterima)
4. TV can be one of the very effective means of developing the learners communicative competence.
Why?

Answers :

1) I had an experience teaching students through games. Its a fun way to

do. By learning English through games, the students do not realize that
they actually learn English in a fun way. There are a lot of games to
use. But the point is, we must know our students characters so we can
choose the most suitable game for the students. So they can learn
English in a fun way. I think someones grammar competence is not
greatly influenced by his/her reading ability because it doesnt impact
directly to someones grammar competence. The students can look up
on the dictionary how to pronounce the word and they can also learn
how to read some words by listening and copying.
2) We can learn the foreign language competence easily and it can be
achieved by communicating with native speakers because by doing so
we can imitate the words that the native speakers say and we do not
realize that we are actually forced by the situation that make us speak,
think, and act like native speakers. So thats why the environment and
with whom we learn English are the most important factors to learn
English can be achieved easily.
3) Because learning English or a language is a matter of how we can
interpret the meaning of words or a sentence without changing the
meaning at all. Its not an easy thing to do. It needs skill, experience
and a lot of practices to make it perfect. So, when we translate a word

or a sentence , we dont translate the meaning literally, we have to

think and find the suitable words that is suitable with our own
language then translate it in English without changing the real
meaning itself.
4) TV can be one of the very effective means of developing the learners
communicative competence because by learning through TV, we can
learn English in all four skills that are Speaking ( we are trying to
imitate to speak like people talking on TV ), Listening
( we are trying to listen the words of what people are saying on TV ),
Reading ( we are trying to read the text on TV ), Writing ( we are trying
to write of some words on TV). So thats why TV can be very effective
means of developing the learners communicative competence.
Through TV, we can learn English both audio and visual. So, they can
help us to learn English easily.
