Design Basis:
1.

The separator shall be designed to contain hydrodynamic slugs expected from the trunklines between the Normal Operating
Level and the high level alarm. This shall be taken as 30m3 required volume but shall be confirmed by hydraulic calculations.

2.

The following should be the minimum performance requirements:

a) Maximum Liquid Carry-Over in the vapour : 0.0134 m3/MMSm3
b)
c)
d)
e)
f)

Maximum Gas carry-under in the liquid: 2% (vol).

Maximum pressure drop between inlet Flange and gas outlet flange: 50mbar
Minimum Liquid Residence Time within the settling zone: 5 minutes (both oil and water)
The water separated shall contain no droplets greator than 100 microns.
When the Inlet water cut is less than 5%(vol.) then the separator shall be operated as two-phase separator.

3.

The separator design pressure shall be : FV / 121

4.

The separator shall be provided with two manholes providing human access for vessel entry for sludge removal .

5.

Sampling points shall be provided on the feed inlet, gas and liquid outlet lines as close as possible to enable performance
to be measured.Samples from each stream are analysed for oil in water concentrations, water in oil concentrations,
liquid in gas carry over and compositions of each stream.

Notes :
1.

The value of X is not a physical dimension on the vane type inlet device.
It is purely a ratio used to determine the required values of Lv and Rv.

2.

The above spreadsheet assists in determining the preliminary layout of the vane type inlet device.
For final dimensions of the vane type inlet device please refer to the fabrication drawings.
