This course provides an introduction to major concepts and theories of second language acquisition (SLA). The course is divided into two parts, with the first outlining general concepts in SLA such as differences between first and second language acquisition, and factors that affect SLA. The second part examines influential SLA theories including Krashen's Monitor Model, interlanguage theories, and cognitive approaches. By the end of the course, participants will gain an understanding of basic SLA concepts and be able to evaluate SLA theories from the perspective of second language learners.
