and a host of other things on your website.

The IT consulting engagement will move through several phases. Every organization is
unique, including its IT needs, capabilities, and objectives. As a provider, we do not offer
canned services; every engagement is custom designed to meet the organizations

specific requirements and goals. However,

engagements do follow a similar process that is described below.

most

Appraisal and Planning

During this stage, the current state and desired state of IT performance, security, or
other areas that are the focus of the engagement are accessed, and a course for
moving from the current state to the desired state is determined. This defines the scope
of the consultancy agreement, and clearly defines the responsibility of the Client and
responsibility of the Provider during the engagement.

Objectives and Schedule

Once ultimate goals are determined then intermediate objectives and the timeline for
reaching them are established.

Execution and Metrics

Activities to reach objectives and goals are defined and carried out, including metrics to
gauge the success of particular activities in reaching the goal or goals. The consultancy
engagement services can involve, but not limited to:

Developing strategy

Advising and overseeing activities to improve effectiveness and efficiency

Present and train industry best practices

Software planning

Hardware/ software integration

Design and development services

Review and Closure

At the end or the engagement term, the success of the engagement will be reviewed
and any final sign-off completed. This will include recommendations for future direction
for the organizations IT development and improvement.

The following section describes the services provided as part of the IT Consultancy:

1.

The Provider will assign a lead consultant to oversee the engagement and serve
as a single point for engagement communication. The Provider may also assign
software developers, system/hardware engineers, and other IT specials as the
requirements and needs dictate.

Resolve IT issues and make recommendations regarding the IT network, IT

security, software/application, hardware, data, and integration as the scope and
the goals of the engagement requires to achieve engagement goals.

Project work will be split between the Client and Provider facilities, however the
Provider project manager will coordinate regular on-site visits on client premises
for meetings, evaluations, observations, reviews, testing, and other project
purposes as needed.

Provider will grant to the Client an unlimited, unrestricted, royalty-free, fully paid
nonexclusive license to any software, documentation and information not
produced or created by Provider as a result of the performance of work or
services under this proposed engagement, however the Provider retains the
copyright to above mentioned software, documentation, or information.

The Provider may utilize publicly distributed (open source) software for the
solutions provided to Client, provided that it is either in the public domain or
licensed for public distribution under terms that do not conflict with Client
licensing.

Deliverables & Testing

The Provider will deliver the items determined during the Appraisal and Planning phase
of the engagement. The deliverables list will be created and added as an addendum to
this proposal or to the Work Agreement created at the acceptance of this proposal.

The terms for the engagement are defined as follows:

Length: [12 months]

Hourly Rate: [$75/hour]
Billable Hours per Week [25-35 hours]
Travel Rate [$35/hour]

accordance with the review/feedback. All site secondary pages are created.

Search Engine Optimization (hereafter known as the Provider) is pleased to submit a a

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) program proposal for [Customer Company]
(hereafter known as the Client). This proposal describes the program elements, services,
terms, and schedule for the SEO program.
Our Search Engine Optimization methods can make your website appear on the very
first page of a search engine's listings for relevant keywords. As one of the best SEO
companies we make the necessary changes to a website in order to achieve top rankings
in all major search engines.
Our team at Search Engine Optimization is a group of highly skilled search engine
optimization professionals that have over 10 years of experience. We stay ahead of the
trends so that our clients receive optimal results. There is no greater sense of
accomplishment than seeing our clients dominate their competition online.

There are many facets to SEO, since there are many components to building a stronger
on-line presence that allows potential visitors to more easily find your website. The
primary focus of SEO is to improve page ranking so your website appears early in search
results when users type in certain words, terms, or phrases into a search engine (like
Google). Achieving this goal requires several separate, but related activities that we call
the SEO Program.
This proposal covers a comprehensive SEO program. Some clients may choose to
perform some aspects of the program in-house. However, an ineffective or lack of

performance in just one area of the program can lead to poor SEO results. Allowing us to
manage all phases of the SEO program ensures professional efforts and positive results.
Our approach to improving SEO is also a process that takes place over time involving
proven practices as well as some trial and error (since the SEO landscape is constantly
changing). Simply redesigning the web pages and reworking some content does not
guarantee results. That is just the foundation. Truly building SEO power takes an ongoing effort over the course of months.

Janet Jones
After several positions in marketing and business management, Janet found that graphic design was
the niche for her. With years of experience working with both corporate level and local business
clients, Tina is looking to continually extend her graphic design portfolio to companies looking to
grow in the online marketing world.
Education: Bachelors of Business Administration & Economics from ACME College (2007)
Experience: Currently works as a Grapjhic Designer and has worked in the marketing and
management field for 6 years.
Philosophy: The internet has brought a huge amount of potential for companies of all sizes.
However, there are also a lot of companies just trying to push packages. You need a professional

who will provide what you need, but will also make sure that you don't spend needlessly on things
that you don't need.

Creating the graphic design that best meets the Client needs involves a creative process that relies
on significant Client involvement. Rarely can a designer disappear for a few days or weeks and
emerge with the perfect design, and that is usually not the most effective approach to using a
graphic designer.

We propose a four stage process to create the design best suited to meet the Clients needs.

1) Research: The provider designer/design team will meet client to discuss the design project and
collect information regarding the goal of the design project, branding and messaging themes,
intended audience, and other relevant specifics including existing positive and negative examples.

2) Concept Design: Applying the information gathered in the research stage, the Provider will
concept 3-4 different design approaches for initial evaluation, review, and discussion. The Client can
select a design as is to move forward with final design, suggest some specific changes to a design
(i.e. color changes, rendering adjustments) for a final design, or combine elements of the concept
designs to move toward a final design. If none of the concept designs are acceptable, the Client
should be able to use these concepts as a springboard to providing specific guidance to the Provider
for creating a final graphic design. The Provide will then create a single concept design that reflects
the Clients descriptions and direction.

3) Final Design: Once a concept approach is selected and approved, the Provider will implement
the concept in a fully realized design element/deliverable.

4) Acceptance: The Provider will present and review the final design with the Client and make any
tweaks and adjustments on the deliverable design. If the Concept phase was successful then
changes to the Final Design should be minor. Once the design element/deliverable is acceptable the
associated files are delivered the graphic design project is complete.

The following section describes the services provided as part of the graphic design project:

1.

The Provider will assign a lead designer to oversee the process and be the creative
leader/designer, as well as serve as a single point for design communication. The Provider
may also engage other designers to assist as the requirements and needs of the design
process dictate.

Design work will generally take place at the provider facilities. The lead designer will
coordinate on-site visits on client premises for meetings, evaluations, reviews, and other
purposes as needed.

Provider will grant the Client unlimited, unrestricted rights and ownership to the design
elements/deliverables upon payment in full.

The Provider will determine and use the most appropriate design application for creating the
graphic design unless the Client specifies otherwise. These will typically involve standard
graphic applications (i.e. Adobe Creative Suite). If the Client specifies a non-standard design
application then the Client is responsible for any expenses incurred in obtaining the
application.

After several positions in marketing and business management, Tina found that online

Philosophy: The internet has brought a huge amount of potential for companies of all

I deliver eye-catching, sales-bringing, message-passing website designs that effectively

Social Media Marketing Program

This proposal is for a comprehensive and coordinated campaign to build a social media
presence on the popular social media outlets, particularly facebook, Twitter, and
Youtube, but can include other social media outlets as well. Social media provides the
opportunity to build brand awareness, transmit messages to key audiences, and drive
website traffic at very low cost, therefore offering big returns through more leads and
prospects which in turn promote sales and revenue.

Effective social media marketing takes quality and consistency over time to build
interest and a following. This section describes the activities that will be part of the
social media marketing program over a six month social media program.

Determine Social Media Strategy: Review the Client the short term and long

goals in using social media. Create an overall plan for initial and on-going social media
activities and responsibilities and for key messaging strategies.

Create/Update Accounts:
Create facebook, Twitter, youtube channel, blog post site/area, and other social media
accounts, or update any existing accounts/blogs as needed (i.e. improved profile
images and descriptions). This includes applying existing logos and marketing graphics
or creating original profile content if required.

Initial Activity: Transmit initial and introductory message over the selected social
media outlets. Sustain extra activity during start-up period.

Sustained Activity: When the initial social media activity is complete, regular activity
must be sustained according to the social media marketing plan. Weekly or monthly
sessions with the client are held to brainstorm ideas, topics, and messages for on-going
activity, review social media results compared to the plan, and make adjustments as
required.

Transition/Hand-Over: Once this program is complete, the social media marketing

activity will be handed over to the Client marketing manager for long term activity. The
provider will be happy to present an on-going sustaining proposal for social media
marketing at that time.

Through all the activities, the Provider will present a professional representation of the
Clients business or organization that align closely with other marketing and branding
efforts.

Services & Technology

Services & Technology

Verification

"Verification" typically involves reviews and meetings to evaluate documents,

plans, code, requirements, and specifications.

This can be done with checklists, issues lists, walkthroughs, and inspection
meetings.

Validation

"Validation" typically involves actual testing and takes place after verifications are
completed.

The term IV & V refers to Independent Verification and Validation.

Walkthrough

A walkthrough is an informal meeting for evaluation or informational purposes.

Little or no preparation is usually required.

Inspection

An "Inspection" is more formalized than a walkthrough. The subject of the

inspection is typically a document such as a requirements spec or a test plan,
and the purpose is to find problems and see what's missing, not to fix anything.
Attendees should prepare for this type of meeting by reading through the
document; most problems will be found during this preparation.

The result of the inspection meeting should be a written report. Thorough preparation
for inspections is difficult, painstaking work, but is one of the most cost effective
methods
of
ensuring
quality.
The following is a short list of quality assurance principles:

Test and QA activities start early in the software development life cycle.

Quality is built into the solution: Do it right the first time".

Each step or phase is validated before moving ahead to the next step or phase.

Repeatable processes are established and used by all like projects.

Processes are continuously reviewed and improved.

Terms and Agreement

The terms for the engagement are defined as follows:

Length: [12 months]

Hourly Rate: [$75/hour]
Billable Hours per Week [25-35 hours]
Travel Rate [$35/hour]

The Client will be responsible for any expenses incurred during the execution of
the engagement, including travel expenses, per diem, and consumables.
While the Provider may engage other contractors to fulfill specific aspects of the
engagement, the Provider retains responsibility for executing the agreement and
will not assign or transfer any ultimate rights or obligations to third parties.
The provider will invoice the client Net 15 for the billable hours at the end of
every month of the engagement.

Conclusion

Again, we are happy to present this proposal for your review. Upon acceptance
of this proposal, the Provider will draft a comprehensive Statement of Work
based of project requirements for your review that will serve as the project
contract between the Provider and the Client.

If you have any questions or need additional information amended to the

proposal, please let us know. You can reach me directly by phone at [Contact

Create Powerful Consulting

Proposals for Clients
by Consulting Success | 7 Comments
Tweet

As a business or marketing consultant, you have a core area of expertise. The field
you focus on, and the skills and experience that set you apart from the rest.
Unfortunately, while you may be the best in your chosen field, that is not really
enough when building a consulting business. You need to be able to create
effective consultant proposals, to convince potential clients to make use of those
superior services. Putting your proposal on paper also helps to avoid confusion later
on, when clients may have assumed that something had been included, that actually
had not.
Once they have decided, you need to be able to provide concise, clear and informative
proposals and reports.

Communication is key to starting and building a

successfulbusiness consulting proposal, and here are a few tips to make the process a
little easier:
Background
Including this section helps to demonstrate to the client your understanding of their
problem. It puts in writing what you and the client have discussed regarding their
situation and needs, and helps define the scope of the project right off the bat.
Required results and Objective
Based on the requirements and background of the project, this details how, and to
what extent, you will help them to solve their problem.
Given the vast variance in possible objectives, this section is key. For example, your
task may be only to observe a particular process from within the organization, and
provide a report and recommendation on how to improve the process.
That is very different from becoming a part of the implementation after the report has
been filed, and by putting that in writing early on, you and the client are on the same
page when it comes to your involvement!
Assumptions and Requirements
There will usually be some assumptions that you will have to make at the outset of
any project. Again, putting these in writing at the very beginning can help further
down the line.
For example, you may include in your assumptions that a senior employee will be
available at all times to assist with queries. Obviously, should that not be the case,
your estimated time frame might be affected, which may upset your client.
Getting such assumptions and requirements out of the way from day one (or earlier)
helps everyone involved to make the process run a little smoother.
Method
This section deals with the method you intend to employ in order to create the desired
solution.
Outline each step in the process, and any models or techniques you intend to utilize.

Deliverables
You may include a single, or many deliverables, for example, within the project
management field, each task is split into many interdependent deliverables, each with
an estimated time frame.
Using these milestones to track progress helps to identify any specific delays or issues
that may need to be addressed in order to complete the project,
Detailed Steps
A more in depth look at the methodology, the steps, which are also related to
milestones and deliverables, are set out in chronological order.
Again, this does help, should there be a delay of any kind, to identify and correct the
issue timeously, and get the project back on track.
Costs
Once the project is set out on paper as above, it is a good idea to come up with a
schedule of rates for the various deliverables or steps involved.
By being as detailed as possible, you not only minimize the chance of having to add
extra costs at the end of the project, but in the event that that does occur, you already
have rates on which to base the additional costs.
Guarantee
It is a good idea to include a guarantee with your project. Of course, you intend to
provide the service your client needs, within the stipulated time frame, and at the price
agreed, but it does help to allay any remaining fears on the part of the client to have
this guaranteed in writing!
Reporting
If you have set up your proposal based on this guideline, then you already have your
reporting structure set up!
Periodically, during the project, you can simply update your clients on percentages
completed, based on methodology, deliverables and steps required, as well as
providing accurate billing based on completed portions.

Continued Correspondences
One last tip if you start out well, keep it up! If any changes occur during the project,
to the scope, deliverables, cost or methods to be used, make sure you update your
consultant proposal or contract document, and send or deliver a copy to your client.
When dealing with intangible items, which you will very probably be doing as a
consultant, its easy for everyone to get confused. Get everything down on paper, and
that will never be a problem!
