PROBLEM 2 [8 points]
The wings of an airplane flying in a horizontal circle at a speed of 680
km/h are tilted 60 to the horizontal. What is the radius of the
circle? Assume that the required force is provided entirely by the
wings lift, a force perpendicular to the surface of the wings.

PROBLEM 3 [12 points]

An object starts at the origin and travels with constant acceleration
from initial time ti=0 to final time tf=10 s. The vectors in the figure
below represent the final and initial velocities. Using three significant
figures in your answers find, as a function of time t, the objects [3

acceleration,
velocity,
position, and
speed.

PROBLEM 4 [15 points]

An airplane flying upward at an angle of 30.0 relative to the
horizontal, and traveling with speed 35.3 m/s, releases a ball when it
is 255 m above the ground. Neglecting any effects due to air
resistance, calculate

(2)
(3)

the maximum height of the ball, [5 points] and
the horizontal distance the ball travels from the release point
to the ground. [5 points]

PROBLEM 5 [10 points]

In the game of tetherball, a 1.25-m rope connects a 0.75-kg ball to

PROBLEM 6 [15 points]

A 1.00-kg object is connected with a string to a 2.00-kg object, which
is connected with a second string over a massless, frictionless pulley to
a 4.00-kg object (as shown in the figure below). The first two objects
are placed onto a frictionless inclined plane. Find the acceleration of
the masses and the tensions in both strings. [5 points each]

PROBLEM 7 [20 points]

Two blocks are connected over a massless, frictionless pulley, as
shown in the figure below. Block m1 has a mass of 1.00 kg and
block m2 has a mass of 0.400 kg. The angle of the incline is
30.0. The coefficients of static friction and kinetic friction between
block m1 and the incline are s =0.500 and k =0.400, respectively.
The blocks are released from rest.

whether they remain at rest, or begin to accelerate. [5 points]
Determine the tension in the rope and, if the blocks
accelerate, determine also the magnitude of the acceleration
and indicate clearly the direction. [5 points]

Now answer the same questions in the case when block m2 has a mass
of 2.00 kg (with all other parameters in the problem staying the
same).
