In rural areas, opening part time Gramin Dak Sewak Post Offices, a unique
system. They deliver and convey mails on payment of a certain allowance
and does not exceed 5 hours. They offer mail, retail, savings bank, life
insurance and remittances along with disbursement of wages and pensions
under certain social security programmes like MNERGA.
Other than post offices, basic portal like Franchisee Outlets where not
possible to open a regular one in urban areas, only specified counter services
are franchised, whereas transmission and delivery of mails along with small
savings schemes are not.
Panchayat Sanchar Kendras opened at Gram Panchayat HQ where PO do not
exist.
PO used for disbursement of various schemes like MNERGA, IGNOAPS,
IGNWPS, IGNDPS, IGMSY.
Providing service to 3rd parties such as collection of data for compilation of
Rural CPI on behalf of MoStatistics along with digital payment network as
each GDS post office is connected to Central Server of the postal network
along with Micro-ATM enabled sale of machine.

PROJECT ARROW (2008)

Improvement of the Core Operations as well as modernized ambience


under Look and Feel.
Focus on mail delivery, remittances, savings bank and office service levels
through with continuous performance and improve service quality on real

NREGA and NOAPS.

MAIL NETWORK OPTIMIZATION PROJECT (MNOP)

Streamline mail operations and improve quality of mail services by Online


Tract and Trace system for Speed post along with online tracking for
registered mail and parcels too.
Improve efficiency and speed for ordinary post in rural and urban areas with
infrastructure upgrade.

AUTOMATED MAIL PROCESSING CENTRES

Automate mail sorting process and expedite delivery of mail with Letter
sorting machine and Mixed Mail Sorter in APMCs at Delhi.

and handheld devices to postmen.

PARCEL SERVICES

Rise of B2C and C2C, its express parcel and Business parcel are introduced in
2013.
Express parcel is a premium parcel service available for retail as well as bulk
customers with time bound, safe and secure home delivery.
Business parcel aims to provide an economical distribution solution to
corporate customers by providing surface transmission of the parcels.
Flat rate parcel is air express services which provide an added convenience to
the customers by offering them pre-paid Flat rate parcel boxes including rural
plus international too.
COD from 2013, available to the contractual customers of express parcel,
business parcel and speed post.
World Net Express is an international express service jointly offered by DoP
and Deutsche Post DHL.

PHILATELY

Philately is hobby of collecting stamps as well study of postal history.


It is of 2 types: Definitive and Commemorative Postage Stamps
Definitive stamps are meant for day to day use of token of payment of
postage on mail articles.
CPS are designed and printed with great aesthetic inputs.

DoP operates Small Savings on behalf of MoF which frames and modifies
rules relating to these schemes and pays remuneration to the DoP for

NATIONAL POLICY ON ELECTRONICS (NPE) (2012)

Create a globally competitive electronics design and manufacturing (ESDM)

Creation of indigenous manufacturing eco-system for electronics in the

cyber secure ecosystem

Electronics Manufacturing Clusters Scheme

Help in flow of investment for the development of world-class


infrastructure specially targeted towards attracting investment
in the ESDM sector.
SPV to be promoted by private companies, industry associations,
state or local governments etc.
Grant-in-aid assistance is to b 50% of project cost in case of
green field EMCs subject to a ceiling limit of 50 crore for every
100 acres of land and or brownfield EMCs it would be 75% of
project cost subject to a ceiling of 50 crores.

Modified Special Incentives package Scheme

Attract investments into ESDM sector , achieve competitiveness


and offset disabilities like high transactional costs, complex
administrative processes etc
M-SIPS provides 25% capital expenditure if ESDM is in non-SEZ
and 20% if ESDM is within SEZ; Reimbursement of CVD/excise on
