Analysis of rust
There is no standard for visual assessment of rust. In general, laboratories
conduct a more or less subjective assessment, such as the following one:
Light rust
Moderate rust
Severe rust
Categories of Corrosiveness
C5-M
C1
C5-I
C2
C4
The rate of corrosion of a steel substrate exposed either indoors or outdoors will vary
depending on the level of corrosiveness of its environment. The more aggressive an
environment, the higher the rate at which corrosion will develop.
Standard ISO 12944-2 specifies the categories of corrosive atmosphere and
environment that are used to define appropriate protection systems.

note that a durability range is not a guarantee period: rather, it is an item of technical information on the basis of which it
is possible to select a system and/or establish a maintenance program. Regular maintenance of treated components will
maximize durability.

Areas of use
Components with machined edges produced by stamping, shearing, sawing
or drilling, or by thermal cutting. The expected levels of protection can be
achieved only by careful compliance to levels of preparation P1/P2/P3 according
to ISO 8501-3,

A zinc layer or one that contains zinc, coated with a liquid or powder-form coating,
is called a Duplex system.
Interpon powder topcoat
This two-coat system combines the cathodic protection afforded by zinc with
the protection that the outer coating provides. Interpon PZ 790 is intended for
protection of ferrous metals, apart from any zinc spray processed steel.
