English is one of subjects the students should pay attention to. This program aims to develop
the students language skills they may need for their further studies. Apart from the structure,
the students also have opportunity to develop reading, listening, writing and speaking so that
they can maximize their language skills.
Since the most students who attend this program consider English as their subject,
they are very potential to acquire English better than those who choose the other programs.
For this reason, it can be possibly implemented in this program successfully. On this
occasion, the writer would like to investigate to what extent syllabus-design can be
implemented in the Falak Department Program related to the activities engaged by the
students in the classroom. The writer makes an attempt to make a syllabus design for
structure, reading, listening, writing and speaking.
3. Integrated Skills Class
Grammar, reading, writing, listening, and speaking are treated as integrated skills at the
advanced level. Primary instruction focuses on the content of thematic units. It permits a
variety of grammar, reading, writing, listening, and speaking activities. It will be concomitant
instruction and practice of academic/professional skills.
The integrated skills curriculum at the advanced level is broken down into three or four
thematic units. Topics are of interest to the students and will provide a basis for a variety of
content-based language tasks of an academic/professional nature. Most reading selections are
authentic and simplified. Some of the reading might be accompanied by intensive reading
skill exercises; others might be covered primarily for content. Emphasis is placed on higher
