Decades Final Project

You will be completing a group project on a decade from the 1930s-1990s. In

addition to the project board that you will complete, the group must also give a 20-30
minute presentation on the topic. Each presentation must have audio, visual, oral,
and an interactive component to the presentation --- for example, you can show a
video clip that is relevant to the era to meet the visual requirement and play a
popular song from the era to meet the audio requirement. These clips must be less
than 10 minutes total. You will be required to provide your fellow classmates with
notes on your decade in the form of your oral presentation and PowerPoint slides.
You are expected to dress the part. This means either dressing in clothes from the
decade (which is preferred), or in formal wear (think interviewing at a law firm). You
are expected to bring in props to decorate the walls prior to your presentation (each
group will be responsible for one wall). Create an atmosphere in the room through
songs and sounds, visual cues, fashion and dress, and activities that were
characteristic of the decade. The key to success on this project is to work together
as a team and plan ahead. If there is any member of your group not participating, he
or she will be assigned an individual ten page paper to complete as an alternative
assignment. This must be brought to my attention immediately so that the affect on
you is minimal. However, this does not reduce the amount of work you as a group
must produce.

Your project board must contain:

• Title
• At least 10 visuals
• At least 5 id-sigs from each category listed (significant figures,
significant historical events, items of cultural significance) Total
of 15
• Creative Elements
• A Bibliography

Your PowerPoint presentation must contain:

• Title
• At least 15 slides
• At least 10 visuals (different images than project board)
• Creative Elements (such as audio clips, transitions, etc,)
• Division of labor ( a list of credits, who did what)

Remember, that you are required to put all of your research into your own words. If
you cut and paste it is considered plagiarism. You will have some organizational time
in class in addition to time to conduct research in the computer lab. In order to turn
in a high quality product, however, you will need to work on your project outside of
class as well.

Your grade will be determined as follows:

Project Board: 50 points
PowerPoint Presentation: 50 points
Participation (Overall effectiveness and
as a member of your group): 50 points
Total 150 points
In addition-ALL MUSIC, VIDEO, PROPS, ETC. MUST BE APPROPRIATE
AND LEGAL! Run all ideas through me so there is no confusion or
possibility of hurting your grade.
