In this case, petitioner posted the bond when the NLRC did
not act on its motion for re-computation of the award. There was
thus substantial compliance that justified a liberal application of
the requirement on the timely filing of the appeal bond. Moreover,
petitioner presented a meritorious ground in questioning the
computation of the backwages, as we shall discuss below.
We now proceed to the merits of the case.
