SURAH DUHA: 93
(a) Duha is the early Makkan surah revealed to Prophet Mohammad (SAW) when
revelations suspended for a time in the initial stage of prophet hood, which caused
distress and anxiety to him. For him it was a period of darkness, a spiritual night.
Surah Duha (daybreak) or the morning light was revealed as consolation to the
Prophet that Allah has not left him as non-believers said. The Holy Prophet is given
hope and news that his hardships will be over and he would receive more guidance.
The main teaching of the surah is that Allah always helps his Prophets. The ayat 5-7
give assurance to the Prophet that God is always there to help the Prophet in need.
So he should be grateful to Him, should be kind to the weak and needy, and share
the bounty of knowledge and guidance that Allah has given him. This is also a
message for mankind to follow his example.
(b)This surah teaches Muslims about blessings of Allah for the Prophet (SAW) and
tells the Prophet that he should share them with people. Just like the Prophet we
should also be grateful to God for the blessings he has bestowed upon us and
should not forget that Allah always help us when we are in need. The passage
strengthens our belief in the messengers sent by Allah . It tells that they are chosen
by Allah, and are guided and protected . In Surah Maidah Allah tells that how he
protected Jesus from Israelites ."and behold I did restrain the children of Israel from
you..."
