AFL WRAPUP: LHP Ryan Horstman went 0-0 with a 0.93 ERA (1 ER, 9.2 IP), while walking 6 and striking out 5 in 9 relief
appearances with the Javelinas in the Arizona Fall League. He limited opponents to a .226 (7x31) average, including a .167 (4x24) clip
vs. right-handed batters. He tossed 8.1 scoreless innings over his first 8 games, before allowing a solo home run in his appearance on
Nov. 17 vs. Scottsdale (1.1,2,1,1,1,1,HR). LHP James Paxton is 2-4 with a 4.60 ERA (15 ER, 29.1 IP) in 7 starts with the Javelinas.
He has limited opponents to .308 (37x120) average, while walking 8 and striking out 29 batters. In his last start he recorded the loss in
Peorias 0-5 loss at Scottsdale on Nov. 18 (5.0,8,3,3,0,7). After allowing 2 runs in his first appearance with Peoria, LHP David Rollins
has allowed only 1 run on 4 hits and struck out 4 over his last 8 games (7.2 IP). Overall he wrapped up his AFL campaign, going 0-0
with 1 save and a 2.79 ERA (3 ER, 9.2 IP) in 9 relief appearances. He limited opponents to a .222 (8x36) average, while walking 3 and
striking out 11. LHP Paul Fry went 1-4 with a 7.59 ERA (9 ER, 10.2 IP) in 10 relief appearances with Peoria. OF Tyler ONeill hit safely
in 6 of 8 games he appeared with Peoria, batting .333 (10x30) with 5 runs, 3 doubles, 3 home runs and 5 RBI. 1B/3B D.J. Peterson hit
.209 (14x67) with 9 runs scored, 3 doubles, 3 home runs, 12 RBI and 8 walks in 19 games with Peoria. He hit 2 of his 3 home runs and
drove in a season-high 4 runs on Oct. 14 at Surprise (2x4, 2 R, 2 HR, 4 RBI). OF Dario Pizzano replaced Tyler ONeill on the Peoria
roster on Nov. 2. In 9 games with the Javelinas, Pizzano hit .182 (6x33) with 1 run scored, 1 double, 1 home runs, 3 RBI and 3 walks in
9 games. INF Tyler Smith hit .231 (18x78) with 7 runs scored, 3 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home runs, 7 RBI, 6 walks and 3 stolen baes in 20
games in the AFL. He hits .385 (10x26) with 3 runs scored, 3 extra-base hits and 3 RBI over his first 7 games in the AFL, but .154
(8x52) over the final 14 games of the season.
HEATING UP IN A LAND DOWN UNDER: 1B/OF Kyle Petty has hit safely in 15 of 18 games, including 9 multi-hit contests with
Adelaide. Overall he is batting .394 (28x71) with 14 runs scored, 5 doubles, 7 home runs, 22 RBI, 3 walks and 6 stolen bases in 18
games with the Bite in the ABL. Since Nov. 1, he is batting .429 (18x42) with 8 runs scored, 3 doubles, 6 home runs, 19 RBI and 4
stolen bases in last 11 games. Petty currently leads the Australian Baseball League in home runs (7), slugging percentage (.761), total
bases (54) and HR/AB (1/10.14), while also ranking T1st in extra-base hits (12), T2nd in hits (28) and stolen bases (6), 3rd in RBI (22)
and average (.394) and T4th in runs scored (14). INF Jordan Cowan has hit safely in 9 of his last 10 games for Adelaide, batting .356
(16x45) with 7 runs scored, 3 doubles, 1 home run, 7 RBI, 2 walks and 4 stolen bases. Overall in 18 games, Cowan is batting .308
(24x78) with 8 runs scored, 3 doubles, 1 home run, 7 RBI, 3 walks and 8 stolen bases. He leads the ABL in stolen bases (8), while
ranking 3rd in at-bats (77). RHP Kody Kerski is 1-1 with 4 saves and a 1.35 ERA (1 ER, 6.2 IP) in 8 relief appearances with the Bite.
Since moving to the closer role on Nov. 6, he is 1-0 with 4 saves (4-for-4 in save opportunities) over 5 scoreless outings (5.0 IP). During
this stretch he has allowing only 3 hits, walked 0 and struck out 5.
HES JUST WINS: LHP Vidal Nuo is 5-1 with a 1.98 ERA (9 ER, 41.0 IP) in 7 starts with Tigres de Aragua in the Venezuelan Winter
League. He has limited opponents to a .225 (34x151) average, while walking 5 and striking out 27. He has not allowed a walk in his last 3
starts (17.0 IP). Nuo did not allow an earned run (1 R) over his first 12.0 innings in first 2 starts, Oct. 17 vs. Zulia (6.0,4,0,0,1,4) and Oct.
25 at Lara (6.0,2,1,0,2,5). Nuo is currently leads in the VWL in WHIP (0.95), while ranking 2nd in wins (5), 5th in ERA (1.98). Also among
VWL starters he ranks 1st in fewest baserunners per 9.0 innings (8.56) and in lowest walk per 9.0 inning ratio (0.88).
AROUND THE WORLD: RHP Stephen Landazuri is 4-1 with a 3.43 ERA (15 ER, 39.1 IP) in 7 starts with Aguilas de Mexicali in the
Mexican Winter League. He has limited opponents to .266 average (41x154), while walking 7 and striking out 40. He struck out 11 batters
in 5.2 innings in his first start of the season on Oct. 14 vs. Obregon (L,5.2,3,3,1,11). RHP Osmer Morales has appeared in 12 games with
Lara in the VWL, going 1-1 with a 2.84 (6 ER, 19.0 IP). He has limited opponents to a .182 (12x66) average, while walking 11 and striking
out 17.
