Theme: GREEN TECHNOLOGY

Green technology is defined as the development and application of products, equipment and systems used to conserve the
natural environment and resources, which minimize and reduces the negative impact of human activities
Green Technology refers to products, equipment or systems which satisfy the following criteria:
It minimizes the degradation of the environment;
It has zero or low green house gas (GHG) emission;
It is safe for use and promotes healthy and improved environment for all forms of life;
It conserves the use of energy and natural resources; and
It promotes the use of renewable resources.

Creative and innovative solution(s) to address any of Green Technology related the topics below can provides innovative solution
in order to conserve our natural environment and resources:
Recycling Technologies: Fluorescent bulb, computer and electronics recycling
Green Technology for economy development in rural area
UTP as a Green Campus
Conversion of red building to green building (UTP case study, CO2 measurement and
energy efficiency)

Theme: SOCIETAL ISSUES

Improving ecosystem, human health and lifestyle of the society:
Contrary to popular belief, we dont have to make drastic changes in order to notice an improvement in the quality of our life. At the same time, we
dont need to wait a long time in order to see the measurable results that come from taking positive action. What we need is to come out with
innovative solutions to:

Invent means or gadget to improve the quality of our human health and lifestyle
Invent gadget to help or facilitate the student in their studies.
Means to provide conducive environment for the students.

Theme: VIBRANT AND SUSTAINABLE UNIVERSITY CAMPUS

UTP aims to become a sustainable campus in near future. A sustainable campus is one that develops process that help create a vibrant
campus with high quality of life while respecting the need to sustain natural resources and protect the environment. Your task is to propose a
creative and innovative solution for achieving this ambition. Your solutions may include these areas (but not limited to) :

Transportation: Proposal to reduce usage of cars in campus by students, new environment friendly transportation device / system for
students/staff, etc.
Recycle: Creative and innovative means to promote and execute recycle in campus
Green energy: Creative and innovative means to conserve / reduce / generate energy in campus

PEER EVALUATION
Students will be evaluating their team members with respect to aspects of team works such as participation,
support etc.
This enables students to rate their team mates, given the fact that supervisors are not able to monitor the
performance of the team members in total.
The exercise will be carried out towards the end of the semester. The marks shall be made confidential.

See Appendix-XXII in the ETP Guidelines.
