9500 MPR Quick Start Guide MPT-HC-HQAM / XP-HQAM / MC Overview and ODU-to-IDU Connections

For MPR-e and MPR-1c, if the SW version of the existing network is anterior to R5.0.0, all new or repaired MPT-MC/HC/XP received with a SW Release 5.2.0 must be downgraded to the network SW Release using MCT / TCO R5.0.0.
This MCT must be first downloaded from OLCS server to a laptop, where the downgrade can be performed.

9500 MPR Quick Start Guide MPT-HC-HQAM / XP-HQAM / MC Installation Steps

1.2 Ground the MSS using the ground screw on

the front panel of the bracket on the right side of
the MSS; use grounding kit 3CC13423AAXX.
1.3 Connect the power supply cable between the
MSS and breakers or power panel:
MSS1 and power injector box: 2x1 mm

MSS4/8: 2x4 mm 3DB18271AAXX
MSS8 (full config): 2x6 mm 3CC52190AAXX
1.4 Install the integrated DDF; (see the applicable
manual 75 , 120 , RJ45).

2.1 Assemble & install the non-integrated

antenna. (Refer to antenna instructions)
2.2 Verify the polarization on the antenna and
change it if required

Install MPT [1+0] on

Note: MPT toolbox is mandatory 3CC50098AAXX

3.1 Assemble & Install the Integrated antenna .
(Refer to antenna instructions)
3.2 Verify the polarization on the antenna and
change it if required

Install coupler for

MPT [1+1]

Set MPT polarization

Factory delivery is in V polarization.

To change the polarization, loosen the two
screws and line up the H or V polarization with
the polarization references.

5.1 Set the coupler polarization (antenna side) to

match the antenna polarization (same process as
steps 3.1 to 3.3)
WARNING: Verify that the indication
engraved
on the coupler is directed toward the pole side.

3.3 Put silicon grease only if required in the

installation instructions of the antenna, see below
Reference
polarization

2.3 Assemble & install the pole mounting for

remote ODU
2.4 Put silicon grease on nose o-ring only if
required in the installation instructions.
2.5 Set the appropriate polarization on the MPT
(see step 4); the connectors must face down.

3.4 Set the appropriate polarization on the MPT

(see step 4); the connectors must face down.

2.6 Open the four locking hooks on the MPT and

slide the MPT on the remote nose adapter.

3.5 Open the four locking hooks on the MPT and

slide the MPT on the antenna nose adapter.

2.7 Secure the MPT with the four hooks.

3.6 Secure the MPT with the four hooks.

Connect the MPT grounding connector to the nearest grounding plate, using the ground cable
16mm 3CC08166AAXX. Washer, screw and lug are provided with the MPT.

6.2

6.1

Install MPT [2+0] with OMT

6.1 Follow the same process described in steps 3.1

and 3.3 . Set the OMT then connect to the antenna.
6.2 Set the appropriate polarization on the MPT (see
step 4); the connectors must face down.
6.3 Open the four locking hooks on the MPT and slide
the MPT on the OMT nose adapter.

Example :
11 to 38 GHz
coupler
5.2 Install and set MPT polarization, for high
frequency, turn the MPT polarization disk to be
aligned with the coupler waveguide. The connectors
must face down.

WARNING: To avoid equipment damage, do not

remove the waterproof tape that is glued on the
MPT waveguide.

11.1

5.3 for low frequency, turn the whole MPT

5.4 Secure the module with the four hooks on the
corresponding brackets.

Example MPT-HQAM installation with MSS

Ground the MPT

6.4 Secure the MPT with the four hooks.
