Reno Huskie Families,

We hope you enjoyed a wonderful holiday weekend with family and friends.
Semester 1 is nearing a close. Please remember to monitor attendance and
grades closely over the next 2-3 weeks. If a student fails one or more classes first
semester, they must meet with their counselor ASAP to determine a credit
recovery plan which may require coming to school over the Winter Intercession.

12/14 AAA Parent Night Meeting in

Studying for finals requires a plan. Students need to make sure they are
organized with their study guides and have a full understanding of what they will
be tested on. Studying with a group of friends from class is always a great way to
prepare also.

o Cross Country Girls won Northern Regionals and earned a 2nd place finish in State
o Cross Country Coach Jim Parker named Coach of the Year in the North and has also been
recently named the Girls Track Coach. (We are interviewing for the Track Boys job the first

girls battled all year and were very fun to watch.
o Boys Tennis won the Regional Doubles Championship and competed at State. McKenna LeVitt
represented the girls in the individuals by winning a regional title then placing 3rd in state.
o Mallory McGwire signed her Letter of Intent to attend the University of Oregon where she will
study and play basketball on a full ride scholarship.

We also want to congratulate Ms. Neace and her cast

and crew for Our Town. Great job and magnificent
production. We also want to congratulate our Band/

Staff Notes for December

504 ConferenceWe sent Assistant Principal Mitch Chubb and two of our counselors, Theresa Shoolroy and Craig Lemons to the
National Section 504 Conference in Austin Texas in November. They attended sessions on the various new policies
and procedures surrounding students with 504 plans. They will share with staff what they learned from the
conference in future meetings.
Student Learning Objective Whole Staff Training concludesTeachers concluded their whole group training sessions on writing Student Learning Objectives last month. Student
Learning Objectives are intended to support teachers in measuring the growth of their students. The student
growth measures are also a portion of the teacher evaluations beginning next year. Follow-up supports will go on
throughout the second semester as our teachers become more familiar with the process and how to adapt them to
a spring unit of study.
Department Leaders continue Book StudyIn December, our Department Leaders and Admin. team will continue their discussion of the book On Common
Ground with Chapter 3 in December. The study and discussion of this book is intended to support our building
leaders with developing strong Professional Learning Communities built on collaboration and monitoring student
learning.
Science High School Proficiency Support for 12th graders over Winter Intercession
Mr. Ronan and Ms. Mangan will co-teach a session of HSPE Science Prep the last week of the Winter
Intercession. This session will be intended to support our seniors still needing to pass the science portion
of the high school proficiency exam to graduate. Counselors and support staff will contact students and
families with dates and times. We will also have Open Lab times for A+ credit recovery over the winter
break. Dates and times will be shared with students and their families over the next couple of weeks once
staff availability is determined.
