1. INSTALLING CINEVEO
Step #1: Make sure you have the Oculus v0.4.4 Runtime installed, upgraded your
DK2 with the latest Firmware v2.12 and have your graphic card drivers updated.
Step #2: Unpack the ZIP to a new folder.
Step #3: Install the LAVFilters video codec pack to be able to play all video formats
smoothly in CINEVEO (Read chapter 2 - Installing a video codec pack). This is
the most important step. If you dont complete this step, CINEVEO cannot play any
videos and you will only see a white cinema screen.
Step #4: Your seating position and distance to the Oculus Rift DK2 camera should
be the same as shown in this picture.

Step #5: There are 3 ways to launch the CINEVEO app. You will need to test
which one works best on your computer to get 75 FPS and the best image quality.
The 3 ways to launch CINEVEO are CINEVEO.exe, CINEVEO_DirectToRift.exe
and CINEVEO_DirectToRift_DX11.bat. Its also recommended to set your DK2 as
the primary display on your computer.
Step #6: CINEVEO supports the video file formats; AVI, WMV, MP4, MKV, MOV
and others. After you launch CINEVEO, you can select any video file from any
location on your computer with the built-in VR File Browser. The file browser can
be controlled via the hands-free interface or with the keyboard arrow keys. You can
also create a movies playlist by placing up to 4 video files into the movies folder of
each cinema theme.
Step #7: Read chapters 3 and 4 to see a list of keyboard controls and to find out
how CINEVEOs innovative hands-free interface works.
Step #8: If you experience problems, read chapter 6 - Troubleshooting Guide.

For best video playback performance with H.264 MKV video files, a quadcore or better processor is recommended as well as a fast SSD.

2. INSTALLING A VIDEO CODEC

We highly recommend using LAVFilters, because they have provided the best
video playback performance for most users during BETA testing. Especially H.264
MKV video files play smoother with LAVFilters and outperform video codecs like
K-Lite or CCCP. If you dont care about MKVs, you can also use K-Lite or CCCP.
Please follow these steps to install the LAVFilters video codec pack:
Step #1: Completely uninstall and remove K-Lite, CCCP or any other video codec
pack you have installed and restart your computer.
Step #2: Download and install the LAVFilters video codec pack from
https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters/releases (LAVFilters-0.63-Installer.exe
which contains both the 32bit and 64bit decoders). Dont change any of the
LAVFilters configurations.
Step #3: Download and install the codec tweaker Win7DSFilterTweaker_5.9.exe
from http://codecguide.com/windows7_preferred_filter_tweaker.htm
Step #4: Run Win7DSFilterTweaker_5.9.exe, go to "Preferred decoders" and
change "H.264" from "Microsoft" to "LAV Video" in both 32 and 64bit. Next, click on
Apply & Close and restart your computer. This step is very important!

3. KEYBOARD CONTROLS
CINEVEO has a variety of features you can control with the keyboard. You can
control video playback, customize the cinema screen and much more. Please have
a look at the list below.
Control keys for the Movie Selection Zone
[ArrowKey Left] - Go to previous folder in file browser
[ArrowKey Right] - Open folder in file browser or play selected video file
[ArrowKey Up / Down] - Select a folder or video in the file browser
[ R ] - Reset Rift orientation
Control keys for Space Station, Ocean, Haunted Valley and The Void
[PageUp / PageDown] - Make the cinema screen larger or smaller
[ S ] - Change to a curved or flat cinema screen
[ArrowKey Up] - Pause / play video
[ArrowKey Left / Right] - Fast forward or rewind video by 10 seconds
[Shift Left / Right] - Fast forward or rewind video by 60 seconds
[ArrowKey Down] or [R] - Reset Rift orientation
[F3, F4, F5, F6, F7] - Switch between 2D and 3D movie modes
[ W ] - Turn webcam video feed ON or OFF
[ESC] - Exit CINEVEO
[Backspace] - Return to movie selection zone and choose another movie
Extra control keys for the 4D Movie Theater
[PageUp / PageDown] - Lets you change the seat in the movie theater
[ A ] - Turn multiplayer audience ON or OFF
[ L ] - Turn 4D ambient lighting effect ON or OFF

4. HANDS-FREE CONTROLS
CINEVEO features innovative hands-free interface controls, which allow you to
control all essential functionalities of the software, without the need to touch your
keyboard or mouse. This YouTube video demonstrates how the hands-free

5. WATCHING MOVIES IN 3D
Step #1: Place a video file with 3D SBS Side-By-Side or 3D Over / Under into a
cinema themes movies folder and start CINEVEO. You can also select a 3D video
file to play from within CINEVEO using the built-in file browser.
Step #2: Once you see the movie playing, you can switch to 3D mode by pressing
the following keyboard keys:
[F3] - Standard 2D mode
[F4] - Half Over / Under 3D mode
[F5] - Full Over / Under 3D mode
[F6] - Half SBS Side-By-Side 3D mode
[F7] - Full SBS Side-By-Side 3D mode

Note: The reversed 3D SBS format is not supported yet.

6. TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
Problem #1: When I want to watch a movie in CINEVEO, I only see white screens.
Solution: White screens happen when you are missing the necessary video codec
packs or they are not installed correctly. You need to exactly follow chapter 2 to fix
this problem.

Problem #2: I only get 60 FPS and not 75?

Solution: You need to setup your DK2 as the primary display on your computer.
Then try to launch CINEVEO with the CINEVEO.exe, CINEVEO_DirectToRift.exe
and CINEVEO_DirectToRift_DX11.bat and see which one works correctly on your
computer.

Problem #3: H.264 MKV videos stutter and dont play smoothly.
Solution: You need to exactly follow chapter 2 to fix this problem. Also, a quad-core
or better CPU is recommended for large size HD quality H.264 MKVs.

Problem #4: When I start CINEVEO, Im not positioned correctly and Im not facing
the movie selection computer panel. When I lean back too much in my chair, I see
weird objects appear in my view.
Solution: Assume a comfortable seating position and then press the [ R ] key on
the keyboard to reset the Rift orientation.
