In our country, there are a lot of professionals in different fields. Each has a specific law
intended for them to be followed, aside from the constitution. One of these professions is
Architecture which follows the Architecture Law. This law is formerly RA545 and was amended
with RA9266 in 2004. Going through the whole content of the RA9266, it is massive, precise
and strict in terms of its information and details of the field of architecture. Also it is intended for
a long term implementation because it considers the continuous improvements of the work
environment and so as the knowledge update of each practicing architect. The scope covers the
limitations, duties, requirements and the processes that is relevant to the profession, in both
professional and client relations.
In the first part, all technical term are defined in such a way that it will be understood in
the context of the law and also the name of the law is defined. The details are in simple
composition but, needed to be comprehended in a higher level. The next part is all about
Philippine Regulatory Board of Architecture where its creation, qualifications and roles are
particularly enumerated. In this part, it can be described as careful, knowing that it is the board of
architecture or a higher office that governs the practice of the profession. Other information is
specific as possible like who is qualified, what are required and how long the term of office is. In
the mid-section of the law it focuses on the rules being implemented by the board of architecture,
or in short the rules applied to soon-to-be architects. Here it is tedious and strict, because it
involves the licensure exam which requires the takers to secure a certain range of grade to be
able to make it through after which, the passers will take the oath of profession. Nearing the last
sections, around this part mainly pertains to the practice of architecture wherein it includes the
grounds for suspension and revocation of license in relation to the code of ethics. These pages
are particularly strict and specific in a sense that it is the totality of the practice of architecture.
Finally in the last pages, it points out its alignment with our constitution and can be described as
flexible and safe.
Viewing in a macro scale, the whole law is compact with each of its content prevails a
power that grasps all architecture related activities. Its totality is a proof that each practicing
architect must be in compliance of the law and engrave to themselves discipline and legality of
each inch of their activities. Their intentions must be truthful and loyal to their profession and by
heart, reflect in their efforts that architects are professionals with dignity and are loyal to their
oath.
