A Recipe For Brownies
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease an eight inch square baking
dish.
In a mixing bowl, put two ounces of unsweetened chocolate and 1/3 cup
of butter. Put the bowl in a pan of hot water and heat it to melt the
chocolate.
When the chocolate is melted, remove the pan from heat. Add 1cup of
sugar. Add two eggs to the melted chocolate and beat it.
Next, stir in
cup of sifted flour
teaspoonful of baking powder
teaspoon salts
cup of chopped nuts
Spread the mixture in the greased baking dish. Bake for 30 to 35
minutes.
The brownies are done, when a toothpick stuck in the center comes out
clean. Let the brownies cool. Cut them into squares.

grandmother. Behave well there, you might get lost.

Agapito Flores was an electrician from Tondo, Manila. One day he
went to Malacaang. He wanted to show President Manuel L. Quezon
something he had invented. It was a long glass tube. Agapito said it was
an electric bulb. Quezon did not know what to do with it, so Agapito went
home sad.
A Frenchman heard about Flores and his invention. The Frenchman
helped Flores to go to Paris so that the invention would not be copied by
other people. Later a big electric company in the United States bought
the light bulb. They made millions of light bulbs like it. Many people in
the world bought the long glass light bulb. This long glass light bulb is
now called the fluorescent lamp. Its inventor was a poor Filipino
electrician, Agapito Flores.
