Executive Summary
The Bits and Pieces International Corporation (BPIC) is company that is
succeeding and is very fast growing in four years. And so, the President of the Bits and
Pieces International Corporation (BPIC) had notified the General Manager/Vice President
to prepare an organizational chart for the new set-up.
The key officers, which includes Engineer Severo Lagayan, are expected to make
their own comments. Engr. Lagayan mulling over to what he may raise in the meeting.

II.

Statement of the Problem

Each of the key officers are expected to make their comments, suggestions and
recommendations they may bring up for the upcoming executive meeting scheduled next
week. Hence, Engr. Lagayan is mulling over to what credible points he may raise in the
said meeting. Here are the matters to consider. The company doesnt maintain a sales
force. They also proposed new positions to add in their organizationalchart of officers,
they also made provisions for improving its facilities including land, building, machinery,

and equipment.
III.
Causes of the Problem
Bits and pieces international corporation does not maintain its sales force. The
general manager is the one who acts as a marketing executive and directly transacts
business with customers but it seems that the general manager didnt provide enough
techniques to show his services and his role as a general manager on its 100 percent that
cause these problems in maintaining the companys sales force.
As Engineer Lagayan knew the order from the presidential about the organization
chart for the new set up, as one of the key officer of the company, he must also review the
proposed set up. Engineer Lagayan was bothered on what point from the proposed set up
he must focused on and what opinions he could share and present on the executive

meeting to improve the maintaining the companys sales force and to improve the
production of the company.
IV.
Decision Criteria/Methodology
Engineer Lagayan as a production manager must oversee and present the
effectiveness and efficiency of the new set-up or organization chart.
- Engr. Lagayan must do SWOT (Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunitist,
Threats) Analysis to know the factors to be consider thus, for him to

settle his mind and organizing skills.

- As a production manager he must think about an effective organizing.
Effective organizing will facilitate the implementation on plans.
- He should share good structures and proper management of
engineering activities. It will serves as a way to reach the organization

V.

goals.
Alternative Courses of Action
He may suggest on the meeting to check the file of organizations current
employees.
- It is good to find a new worker for needed position from the
organizations current employees because they already have an idea
and information about them. They also have enough idea about the
companys production and situation. It will be easy for the ley officers

to guide them.
He may offer to make a product or market organization.
- With its feature of operating by divisions, as they added a new product
on their existing lone of products this will help to pinpoint the
responsibility of product problems and there will be an emphasis on

overall product and division goals.

He must propose a matrix organization chart.
- As their president ordered the general manager to prepare an
organization chart for the new set up, he must also present a matrix
organization chart which may help them to know the situations with

each divisions, in which each employee reports to both functional or

division manager and to a project of group manager.

He must propose to set a meeting for all employees to discuss about
division of labor.
- It will help to be able to remind the employees the scopes of their

works and how it is combined in a job.

He must also suggest to have a departmentation in the company.
- Deapartmentation is a grouping of related jobs, in which all workers
who are related with the jobs will be working in each divisions so that
they may focused on the divisions they will be assigned and share their
ideas with the job which can help to improve the qualities of each

divisions because they are all skilled with it.

Having coordination with all the key officers of the company.
- This will help to link all the activities in the organization that serves to
achieve the common goals, over objectives, for the whole company to

VI.

succeed with its goals.

Implementation and Justification
With the alternative solutions prevented, Engineer Lagayan will now present ideas,
suggestions and actions on their executive meeting scheduled next week.
For better solutions for the problem of Engr. Lagayan, he will go along with these
series of steps:
1. He will ask the general manager if they can check the organizations current
employees for immediate for the job vacancies with the requirement
presented.
2. He will present a product or market organization to have immediate solution
with the production problems and to emphasis on overall product and division
goals.

3. He will present a matrix organization chart. It will help them to be aware with
each divisions situations where all employees will have a participation on
reporting it with their divisions managers.
4. He will propose to set a meting for all employees to discuss division of labor
after their executive meeting. It is good to have a good employee relation, as
they know that they have participation in the company.
5. Proposing to have a departmentation in their company which may help to
improve each divisions by joining all the workers in each divisions base on
their expertise.
6. Proposing to have coordination within the key officers whr they will going to
have monthly executive meeting to talk about their divisions activities and
situation to have a common goals and objectives to achieve for the company
to succeed.

-The company attains success and

continues on growing in just
fewyears.
-The company added a new product
line (tissue holder).
-The company madeprovisions
forimproving its facilities
includingland, building, machinery
and equipment.

-BPIC does not maintain a

sales force
-The location of the plant
and theoffice

SW
OT

If Engr. Lagayan, together with the

key officers planned anew
andeffective organizational
structure, then the company would
havebetter workflow.
-If the company added the
newline product, then the profit of
thecompany might increase
-If the company maintains sales
force, then the company
cantransact business to their
customers much faster and they
can open moreopportunities.

-If the company doesnt have

effective organizational
structure, thenthe companys
success would messed up.
-If the company doesnt
maintain sales force, then
the company willhave
difficulties in dealing with their
customer as it expands.

Strengths

Opportunities

Weaknesses

Threats
Then, EngineerSeveroLagayan will make decisions on the options and
alternatives of actions he constructed.

He must raise to the meeting about hiring a sales manager or officer for
the growing number of sales especially with the addition of tissue holder
to the product line. The general manager is already up to this task.
He must raise to the meeting about incorporating the product or market
organization structure into proposed set-up (There will be two associate
production managers).Since there are two production activities for the
plant (for stocks sold to the local market and for those to the
subcontractors), product or market organization is recommended.
Particularly, this type is a market organization.
He must raise to the meeting about adding subordinate officers to (1) the
financial manager and (2) quality control and research and development
manager. This is to be able to be called managers, they must have
VII.

subordinate officers to exercise their authority.
