Acknowledgement
At first we thank Almighty Allah for successful completion of the project. We had no previous
experiences in practical mechanical part and in circuit work. So we faced many problems. Mr.
Kazi Arafat Rahman, Mr. Aminul Islam and Mr. Rafidh Hasan helped us a lot to solve
our problems. At first they gave us about electrical circuit, microcontroller etc. they also gave
us advice about mechanical part . We are always grateful for their guidance about calibration.
The contribution of our respected teachers will always be remembered the successful
completion of our project. Our project would have been impossible without their help and
advice.
At this stage we would like to express our gratefulness to madam, foreman instructor Machine
Shop, BUET and Mr Moqbul Islam from machineShop, BUET. Honestly speaking , without
their relentless help and suggestion making the mechanical structure of our project might
not be possible . Credit goes to Mr Maksudur Rahman who helped us in the measurement
lab specially to calibrate our instrument

Abstract
Anemometers are used for many years world wise to measure the velocity of the
wind. It is upgrading day by day by various types of calibration and sensing
technology. Still it is used largely in different weather situation to measure wind
velocity. The accuracy of anemometer varies depending on calibration and sensing
technology. Based on infrared sensors and geometrical structure we build an
anemometer. Geometrical structure was chosen to be three cups conical anemometer
to measure revolutions per hour and wind velocity. The output of the anemometer
is produced in a LCD display. We tried to build an anemometer which is light but
strong enough for using in various wind conditions. Our design was made such a
way that it can resist vibration while rotating the three cups. We used an encoder
which was a different aspects of our project. Here calibration and programming are
also included.
