Scenes from the Childrens Sabbath:

First Sunday of Advent, November 29

Wednesday, December 9

Sensing Christmas, our Advent

Luncheon Study, will be at
noon. We will be talking
about and experiencing
tasting Christmas. Bring
your own lunch (drinks and
some snacks will be provided). If you want, bring a
dish that is a tradition for you at Christmastime.
What tastes do you think of when you think of Jesus
birth? Come and join in this time of community
sharing.

---------------------

This will be the final Wednesday Evening Meal

(at 6 p.m.) for this semester! Please bring a favorite
Christmas dessert or
snack. [We would like
for you to bring a dessert that has special
meaning for you during
this time, so we can
share in each others Christmas traditions.]
After the meal, you are invited to come and join in
the fun of a Family Advent Night, including all
church family. You will be able to choose from a
variety of activities, and should have time for at
least two of them. You might choose to decorate
cookies; or make a card for someone special; or
color a picture of the stable scene where Jesus was
born; or make an ornament for your tree or the
one at the church. We hope that all ages will have
fun working together. We have so much to learn
from each other.

Sunday, December 13
Third Sunday of Advent
Youth group Christmas Party

Wednesday, December 16
Our third Advent Luncheon Study will be held.
We continue our theme of Sensing Christmas as we
talk about and experience smells of Christmas.
Please bring spices, candles, or anything else that
reminds you of Christmas. We will gather at noon;
bring your own lunch.
Sunday, December 20
Fourth Sunday of Advent
Wednesday, December 23
We finish our Sensing Christmas series for our Ad
vent Luncheon Study at noon. Consider the
sounds of Christmas, and bring something to
share, if you want. Bring your own lunch.
Thursday, December 24
Christmas Eve Candlelight & Communion Worship, 7:00 p.m.

Advent decorators gathered on Nov. 28 and had a lot

of fun. Can
you guess who
hung all the
greenery in the
Narthex and
decorated the
Christmas
tree? The
three wiseguys and two
young Lords
(Caleb & Andrew) pictured here. Didnt they do a great job? We
hope youll join us again on January 9 when it all has to
come down!

The roots of RMMO go back to

the mid-1930s, when American
Baptist congregations received a
Communion Fellowship Offering on the first Sunday of each
month to support retired ministers, missionaries, their widowed
spouses and elderly clergy within their churches. In 1977
American Baptist Churches
USA launched the Retired Ministers and Missionaries Offering
(RMMO) to continue this timehonored tradition of expressing
thankfulness.
This year our theme is The Grace
of Giving. The offering supports
those who have dedicated their lives to Gods service by
providing emergency assistance in times of need and a
thank you check at the end of each year . You will find
an RMMO envelope in your bulletins through Dec. 20.

Grocery Cards Year-Round

ABY is selling grocery cards
on a regular basis again! This
simple ongoing fundraiser
gives a helpful boost to the
youth for their summer trip to
Quest, and it costs you absolutely nothing--just money that you spend at the store anyway for groceries, gas, prescriptions, etc.!
We have HyVee and Dillons cards in $25, $50, and $100
denominations, and Checkers $10 certificates. (FYI, the
stores sell cards/certificates to ABY at a discount, at the
following percentages: Checkers, 6%; Hy-Vee, 6%; Dillons, 4%.)
Ways to buy them:
1. Look for Susan Pauls or Brenda Schenkel after late service at the back of the narthex.
2. Wednesday nights--find Susan or Brenda, and they will
get them out for you.
3. Stop by the office and ask to purchase them any time
during the week.
4. Contact Susan (785-550-4250) or Brenda (785-8658181), let us know what you need, and we will arrange
to get them to you/collect payment.
