Self direction
Mark doesnt let his cerebral palsy
slow him down. With a passion for
music, he sings in a band, performs
as a DJ and enjoys a busy social life.
Before receiving DHIs direct
payment and support planning
service Marks health was suffering:
Without DHIs support Id be stuck
indoors... the service has enabled me
to manage my own life and get out
and enjoy myself.
DHIs Direct Payment and Support
Planning service has enabled Mark to
do this. The service provides tailored
care which Mark himself decided
upon; he uses his budget to get the
most effective care for him. His daily
carer provides support when he
needs it assisting with cooking,
household tasks and making sure
he sleeps in his bed.

Stimulation
When she came to DHI, Aisha was
dependent on alcohol and cannabis.
She was desperate to overcome
her dependence but didnt feel
comfortable with group work.
DHI arranged a unique support
programme for Aisha who was then
able to successfully detox.
After overcoming her own addiction,
Aisha has herself become a peer
mentor offering her own skills to
support others in recovery.
DHIs peer mentoring training offered
her the skills to support people in
recovery while protecting her own
wellbeing. This experience enabled
Aisha to apply for a Health and Social
Care Course, which she has recently
completed, attaining her Level 3
Diploma. She now works full-time
in a supported housing project.

Flexibility
Home Turf Lettings (HTL), DHIs not-forprofit social enterprise, was set up in
response to the growing housing crisis; a
lack of affordable housing being a key
issue for many of its clients.
HTL is always evolving in a volatile
climate to offer the best support to
clients. Its Empty Homes Scheme, for
instance, finds vacant properties and
helps owners convert them into
affordable housing for the homeless or
those at risk of homelessness.
