thatenhancetheeducationalexperienceforourstudents.TheBoardofEducationpassed
aresolutiontoproceedwiththelandswap.Theexactstatusofthelandexchangewas
notavailableatthetimeofthemeeting.Also,itwasnotedthatBatchelorsForestRoadis
aruralandrusticroadandthattheoriginaldesigndidnotgofarenoughtomeetthe
requirementsoftheMNCPPCMasterPlan.Thereforethebuildingandparkingwere
movedfurtherbackonthesitebacktomaintaintheruralcharacter.

sideofthebuildingwithasoundwallbetweentheneighboringhouseandthebuilding.

Theupdatedfloorplanswerereviewed.TheSouthportionofthebuildingis3stories.
Entryisatthesecondflooratelevation502.TheNorthwingisatallsinglestoryspace
containingthegym,cafeteria,kitchen,andspecialsclassrooms(art,music,technology
education)atelevation502.Lockersareinacentercommonsallowingfortransparency
betweenthecorridorsandtheclassrooms.Classroomshaveamechanicalclosetfor
watersourceheatpumps.Amainstreetcorridorconnectsthewingsofthebuildingand
anadditionalcorridorwasaddedtotheEastendofthebuildingtoconnectthewingsto
assistwithcirculation.TheloadingdockisontheNorthsideandthegraderampsupto
thedockatanelevationof499fromelevation487.
HVACequipmentthatwillbelocatedontheroofwillbescreened fromadjacent
neighbors.EquipmentshouldnotbeseenfromBatchelorsForestRoad.Thiswillbe
studiedbythedesignteamasthebuildingdesignprogresses.
Thepreviousbuildingrenderingswereshown.Theintentistoreusethesamedesignstyle
previouslydeveloped,butmodifiedbasedontheplan.Buildingmaterialsandfinisheswill
bedeterminedbasedonthebudgetaryrestrictionsandwillbestudiedasthedesign
progresses.
Thereisacourtyardbetweenthe2wingsofthebuildingthatisbeingstudiedandmaybe
usedasanoutdoorlearningenvironment.
Question:Isgeothermalbeingusedandisitnotaquietsystem?
Answer:Yes,geothermalwillbeusedforheatingandcoolinganditisaquietsystem.
Therewillberooftopunitsformakeupair,butthesewillbescreened.
Question:Canacanopybeprovidedatthebackofthebuildingsimilartothefront?Also,
canthesidewalkbecontinuedallalongthebuslooproad?
Answer:Yes,canopiescanbeadded.Thiswillbecoordinatedasthedesignprogresses.
Theloadingandunloadingofthebusseswillcontinuetobestudiedwithanemphasison
studentsafety.Thesidewalkwillbestudied.ADAaccessibilitywillbeafactorinhowthe
sidewalkisconfigured.
Question:Whattypeofoutdoorlightingwillbeprovided?
Answer:Allsitelightingwillbe100%downlights.Wallpackswillbemountedonthe
buildingandalllightsmountedonthebuildingwillbe100%downlightsnoexposed
brightlenses.Therewillbeparkinglotlights.Nolightingwillbeprovidedonthefieldsor
tenniscourts.Lightingphotometricswillbedevelopedtoprovidezerofootcandlesatthe
propertyline.Also,LEEDrequirementsstipulatethatlightnotbleedovertheproperty
line.
Question:Cantheschoolusetheexistingfieldsandisthereasafetyconcernwith
overlappingthesoccerandsoftballfields?
Answer:Existingfieldscanbeused,butnotlikelytobecauseofthelongdistance.The
overlappingoffieldsiscommonatschoolsites.Theinfieldisnotskinned(itisallgrassnot
dirt),thereforethereisnosafetyissue.

roadandtheplayfields.Playfieldsarelowerthantheadjacentroad,solooseballsand
studentswillbecontainedbythetopography.Ifretainingwallsareusedtomaximize
outdoorathleticspace,therewillbeguardrailsatopthewalls.

connecttotheSouthandbepumpedtogravityprofile.Itwillallstayonpropertyandwill
notbotherBatchelorsForestRoad.
Question:IsthereconfiguredsiteconsistentforatypicalschoolinMontgomeryCounty.
Answer:Everysiteisdifferentandisdesignedtomeetthespecificchallengesofeachsite.
Itistypicaltoseparatecarandbustrafficandforadministrationtooverseethedropoff
area.Therusticroaddesignationofthesiterequiredthepavingtobeawayfrom
BatchelorsForestRoadandthefieldsatthefrontofthesite.
