My Dear Parishioners,
"Glory to God in heaven, and on earth peace to men
who the Lord loves. Do not fear, I bring you the good news,
the great joy for all the people: today, in the city of David, a
Savior has been born to you: Messiah, the Lord. This is a story
of the Annunciation, a revelation. When God becomes present
through his messengers, recipients always feel fear and horror
at the unexpected and the divine. But what matters is the message you want to reveal. It is necessary to taste all the sense
that the Holy Spirit offers us through the Evangelist. These
titles applied to Jesus revealed them the Spirit to the Church
after Easter. But now they anticipate children to reveal the
depth of God's presence in that context so very austere and
simple. God is as well! We are enjoying Christmas since the
Passover and the gift of the Spirit. And this is the great good
news that the world needs. Today we must pay special care to
update this event. We are reviving from the paschal mystery.
That means for the believer a serious commitment to the living
history. At Easter came the great deliverance, for Christmas
today is carried out again. Should we not celebrate Christmas
if it does not break around us any enslaving tie that prevents
true communion in the family, at work, and in our social commitments?

Yours in Christ,
Fr. Pedro Umaa, OFM
