The Indian Institute of Teacher Education was established vide Gujarat Act No.-8, 2010. The main objectives
of the IITE are :
I.

To evolve and implement a new program of teachers' education that aims at integral development
of teachers.

II.

To train prospective teachers based on global curriculum with ideas gleaned from the fusion of the
intellectual traditions of India and the West.

III.

To equip teachers with the competencies requisite for dealing with the 21st century issues of the
choices and challenges of students.

IV.

To impart teacher training which enables the prospective teachers to see the world in the new light
of universal human values.

V.

To promote the indigenous tradition of teacher-student relationship (Guru-Shishya parampara) in


various fields of humanities, arts, crafts, sciences, technologies and yoga (psychological and physical
education).

VI.

To publish and disseminate results of advanced research relating to teachers' education for purposes
of advancement of capacities to teach and learn among professional teachers as also among parents,
social educators and social workers.

VII.

To promote national and international cooperation in teachers' education as also in the development
of teaching-learning material through online programs, documentaries, musical and dramatic
programs and films.

VIII.

To undertake, conduct and promote any program that will enhance the highest aims of pedagogy
and synthesis of knowledge-systems and internationalism.

IX.

To introduce and nurture innovations in the education system so as to reflect India's spiritual
knowledge, robust intellectuality and inexhaustible creativity.

IITE has been envisioned to introduce and initiate future teachers into the process of transformation into
evolved beings who can lead and guide the children of tomorrow towards the knowledge century in the true
sense. With holistic training components, value-education and skill-orientation as the mainstay of the
teacher education, IITE has a vision of empowering the nation and the world with teachers who can take the
onus of shaping the next generation of students with a sense of responsibility for the nation and an
orientation for internationalism.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria

1)

Associate Professor ( For Serial No. 1 )

1. M. Sc. with Mathematics with minimum 55% marks or an equivalent grade in a point scale
wherever grading system is followed .
2. M. Ed. with minimum 55% marks or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading
system is followed.
OR
M. A. in Education with minimum 55% marks or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever
grading system is followed alongwith B. Ed. with minimum 55% marks or an equivalent grade
in a point scale wherever grading system is followed.
3. Ph.D. degree in Education or in the discipline relevant to the area of specialization. (
According to UGC minimum standards and procedure for award of Ph. D. Degree, Regulations2009).
4. At least eight years of teaching experience in University department of education or College
of Education, with a minimum of three years at the M.Ed. level and has published work in the
relevant area of specialization.
5. A minimum score (300 points from category-III of APIs) as stipulated in the Academic
Performance Indicator (API) , as per UGC norms.

2)

Associate Professor ( For Serial No. 2 )

1. M.Sc. with any subject of Science with minimum 55% marks or an equivalent grade in a point
scale wherever grading system is followed .
2. M. Ed. with minimum 55% marks or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading
system is followed.
OR
M. A. in Education with minimum 55% marks or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever
grading system is followed along with B. Ed. with minimum 55% marks or an equivalent grade
in a point scale wherever grading system is followed.
3. Ph.D. degree in Education or in the discipline relevant to the area of specialization.
( According to UGC minimum standards and procedure for award of Ph. D. Degree,
Regulations-2009).

4. At least eight years of teaching experience in University department of education or College

2. M. Ed. with minimum 55 % marks or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading
system is followed.
3. Ph. D. in Education (According to UGC minimum standards and procedure for award of Ph. D.
Degree, Regulations-2009) or NET/ SLET/ SET cleared in Education.

5)

Assistant Professor ( For Serial No. 5 )

1. Postgraduate degree with minimum 55% marks or an equivalent grade in a point scale
wherever grading system is followed in Arts/ Humanities/ Commerce/ Science.
2. M. Ed. with minimum 55% marks or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading
system is followed.
OR
M. A. in Education with minimum 55% marks or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever
grading system is followed alongwith B. Ed. with minimum 55% marks or an equivalent grade
in a point scale wherever grading system is followed.

Application must reach University office on or before 12/01/2015.


The candidate must submit seven copies of the application.
Out of the seven copies submit two copies with filled application form and all the necessary
attachments. Submit five copies of filled application form but without attachments.
The candidate must satisfy qualification, experience on the last date of receiving application.
The Applicant must ensure that applicant fulfils the eligibility conditions for the post.
Candidates should enclose attested copies of certificates as proof of the evidence of Age, Educational
Qualifications, Category, Experience, etc.
Candidates who are desirous of applying for more than one post will have to submit separate
prescribed application form for each post with separate application fee and documents.
The University shall verify the antecedents and documents submitted by a candidate at the time of
appointment or during the tenure of the service at any time. In case, it is detected that the documents
submitted by the candidates are fake or the candidate has undesirable clandestine antecedents/
background and has suppressed the said information, then his services are liable to be terminated.
In case of any inadvertent mistake in the process of selection which may be detected at any stage even
after the issue of appointment letter, the University reserves the right to modify/withdraw/ cancel any
communication made to the candidate.
Relaxation of 5% of the marks at Master Degree level will be given to SC/ST candidate.
The qualifications and other conditions prescribed in the present advertisement are subject to
regulations/norms stipulated by the University/UGC/NCTE from time to time.
The Selected candidate shall, during his probation period, be required to pass qualifying examination
for computer knowledge in accordance with provisions of the Gujarat Civil Services Computer
Competency Training and Examination Rules, 2006.
The prescribed qualifications and experience are minimum and the mere fact that a candidate
possesses the same will not entitle him/her for being called for interview.
The University reserves the right to restrict the candidates to be called for interview to a reasonable
number on the basis of qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed as decided
by duly constituted Screening Committee/s and approved by the Competent Authority. Call letters
for attending interview will be sent only to the short-listed candidates by Post or E-mail. No
correspondence will be made with applicants who are not short-listed/not called for interview.
Canvassing in any form on behalf of any candidate will disqualify the candidate.
Candidates already in service must submit their applications (hard copy/print out) through proper
channel. However an advance copy could be sent directly to IITE before last date of receiving
application with original demand draft. If the Original Application through Proper Channel has not been
received by the University, the applicant will have to submit No Objection Certificate from his/ her
employer to the University at the time of Interview.
Applications incomplete in any respect will not receive any consideration at all.
The duly filled in Application (for each post separate application with separate Demand Draft) shall be
submitted by the applicant so as to reach the University on or before the due date mentioned in this
Advertisement.
Candidates belonging to General and SEBC category are require to submit Demand Draft of Rs.
1000/- along with the application and candidates belonging to S.C./S.T. category are require to submit

Demand Draft of Rs. 500/- along with the application. Demand Draft should be in favour of Registrar,
Indian Institute of Teacher Education, payable at Gandhinagar.
Please write Name of the post and serial no. applied for and applicants name with full postal address
on the back of the Demand Draft.

respect in an envelope should be forwarded to the Registrar, Indian Institute of Teacher Education

by registered/ Speed post only, on or before the last date given in the advertisement.
Candidates will have to appear for the Interview at their own expenses.
Documentary proof in support of previous experience and academic qualifications indicated in the
application should invariably be sent along with the application, failing which it will be considered that
you do not possess the experience and qualifications mentioned therein and the application shall be
treated as incomplete and rejected.
A recent pass-port size photograph signed by you should be pasted on the application in the space
provided thereof.
INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS SHALL NOT BE CONSIDERED
The University reserves the right to fill or not to fill any or all posts.
Candidates should clearly state the category to which they belong. They should also submit a
Certificate issued by the designated competent authority as proof of caste/physical disability status
without which the applications will not be considered.
SEBC Candidates should submit an attested copy of caste certificate specifically mentioning Recent
Creamy Layer-exclusion in the format prescribed by Government and issued by competent authority.
Candidates must attach University recognition letter from concern university along with their
experience certificate with application otherwise their experience will not count.
Application received by hand or by courier would be out rightly rejected.
The period taken by the candidates to acquire M.Phil. Degree and the residency period prescribed for
pursuing Ph. D. shall not be considered as teaching/ research experience to be claimed for appointment
to the teaching positions.
Only domicile candidate of Gujarat State can apply for the respective reserved post as per Gujarat
Government rules applicable. The SC/ST/SEBC/PWD candidates are required to attach necessary
certificate(s) on prescribed format from competent authority.
Application not in prescribed form and doesnt have necessary fees will be rejected and will not be
considered for the post.
Any change of address and contact details/ Emails given in application form should at once be
communicated to the University.
