Bridge Structures Engineer Rail - York

Representing approximately 16% of our global business, the railway sector is one of our core
markets, a position it has held throughout our 150 year history. We pride ourselves on delivering new
and exciting resolutions for rail infrastructure design and construction schemes. Our Rail Team
continues to add to their impressive list of project awards and recent successes have seen them
secure some of the UKs most high profile, complex and stimulating projects to complement their
existing portfolio of works. The new schemes are diverse and technically complicated and include
London Bridge Station Regeneration, Crossrail, Bank Station Regeneration and Manchester Victoria.
We are now keen to develop our design output capability by recruiting the Rail industries highest
calibre Engineers, Senior Engineers and Principal Engineers to further enhance our status and yours.
We have an enviable reputation in the delivery of some of the UKs and indeed the Worlds most
prestigious and challenging schemes. Currently, we are working on behalf of Network Rail, Rail
Operating Companies and Contractors throughout the UK on Grip 2 to 8 stages of major infrastructure
projects, designing and engineering complex technical solutions to meet / exceed our clients needs.
Requirements:
We are striving to attract career minded and technically advanced Engineers to join our existing high
calibre team. To be considered for a role we are seeking candidates with the following credentials:
Degree Qualified and nearing professional review for chartered status
Structural Design experience with rail experience being a distinct advantage
Flexibility to travel throughout the UK and abroad when required.
Experience of working on projects in a professional services environment
A strong structural background is key
You will have previous experience of working on projects, applying standards with the ability to
resolve technical issues. You will be an excellent communicator both written and verbal, with the
ability to influence people and situations effectively. You will have the ability to think in an innovative
and entrepreneurial manner to deliver the very best solutions to our clients.

experience may vary from the above and would welcome approaches from Engineers at all
experience levels.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Associate Business Director, you will hold a key role within the Bridge Design team,
providing expert technical advice and leading by example through the successful delivery of
technically challenging structural designs. As we operate in such a diverse marketplace, we can safely
say that you will gain an experience of working on a wide and varied portfolio of projects which will
enhance your skills and test your design and technical knowledge.
This is a varied role with a number of project associated deliverables including investigation, analysis
and design in line with both client and Hyder specifications, national standard and codes of practice.
You will provide a crucial interface between the relevant Project and Team leads, as well as our clients
and so your ability to communicate effectively is key.
You will be working in a team collaboratively to resolve technical issues on projects and provide
technical guidance to those you work with. You will also seek to build upon Hyders profile within the
industry ensuring the solutions we provide to our clients are at the very forefront of leading design.
