Dont Get Too Excited!


I hope you dont get too excited and apply all
these habits at once. That will drive you
crazy.

Instead, pick the easiest habit for you, and


then do it for 3-6 months until it becomes a
natural part of your routine. After that, check
back here to pick another one.

Use the 1st habit as an anchor to prompt you


into doing the new habit youre trying to
master.

For example, the first habit you mastered is


waking up early and now youre trying to
exercise regularly.

Your habit formula can look like this: After I


wake up at 6 AM, I will jog for 30 minutes.
This works well because waking up early is
strongly programmed into your brains
neurons, so stacking another habit to it
leverages the existing neurons fast and
steady connection.

I know many people who feel they are
successful and who others regard as
successful who dont do most of the stuff
here and others who are not successful
by any definition who do most of it.
Like with any list the 80/20 principle is
relevant here.
I would wager that 80% of their success
would be attributed to
1. Get going on a key priority every day
(probably 40% of the value of the list)
and see it through in a reasonable time.
2. Clear their minds and meditate
(another 25% of the value of the list)
3. Have a networking ritual (phone,
coffee, dinner parties, etc.) i.e. they
have a way of maintaining a network of
at least 30 important relationships.
4. Connect with family and friends (hey
some successful people arent even
married and dont have kids)
5. Not wasting money. No $30 lunches
everyday. No Ubers to the office. Cut
your car insurance to $25/month (check
InsurancePanda), cut gas to less than
$50/month (check Gasbuddy and drive a
light car), and look to TMobile for
cellphone ($20/month).
6. Exercising. At least a leisurely walk.
You dont have to do an Ironman
competition, but some light exercise
really makes you feel better and gets the
NOVEMBER

I would add one that is kind of not on the


list. And that is they tend to have an
attitude that focuses on what they want
and not on what they dont want, and that
recognizes and appreciates the good
stuff that they have in their lives.
I would also say that working hard and
getting up early are not it. Unless you are
a professional 9 to 5 staffer whos boss is
measuring your output by the number of
reports you file on time.
