Rotating Slurry Powered Distributor (RSP)

RSP Distributor

The EFD Rotating Slurry

Powered c(RSP)
accurately divides a
stream of pulp into two
or more equal and
separate process
streams.

The no-motor, low

maintenance design has
made the RSP the
distributor of choice for
high flow, multi-stream
distribution
2 RSP 6-way for Cerro Verde II

Typical drawing for RSP

Benefits of the RSP

Modest capital cost

Minimal maintenance cost
Provides a near perfect
distribution to two or more
process units
Reliable and trouble free
operation
Rotation is powered by the
flow slurry with no driven
motor is required

10

Key features of RSP

Carbon steel construction with rubber lining on wear surfaces like

feed well, tank bottom and lower portion of main shell section,
overflow nozzle, outlet nozzles.
Flanged or Victaulic style nozzle connections for inlet / outlets.
Unique internal launder design provides stable distribution when
one or more outlets are off line
Rotating distribution tank with outlet pipes and elbows to distribute
pulp to the compartments.
Slewing Ring Turntable bearing located outside the slurry tank.
All unlined carbon steel surfaces are painted
Maintenance is minimal to none, other than ensuring the
automatic lubricator is replaced at regular intervals and grease is
topped off.
Inspection doors, vent nozzle to eliminate vacuum lock which would
result reduced flow through the distributor, lift lugs.

11

Optional for RSP

Access platform for

inspection.

Alternative material of
construction (based on
application and
customer requirement).

7 Way RSP for Toquepala, Peru

Feed 550 m3/h
12

Required Parameters for RSP sizing

Feed flow rates (Nominal, Design and Minimum).

Number of outlets.
Specific gravity of slurry.
Froth Factor
Particle size and composition abrasiveness of the
slurry.
Viscosity
Space restrictions (if any).
Maximum and Minimum operating temperatures.
Design loads like seismic, wind, snow or others.
Specification for the fabrication- quality control, testing,
paint specs, etc
13

Variables that affect RSP sizing

Range of min and max flow rate (wide range of
min / max flow result in wide range of operating
speed).
Number of outlets (higher number of outlets
need more space and result in bigger tank
dimensions).
Available height for maintenance (size of RSP can
be adjusted to suit customers requirement)
14

Limitations
High viscosity slurry (difficult to achieve
uniform distribution).
Large particle sizes in slurry result in
accumulation and plugging of nozzles and
pipes - Hence not recommended.
