Two positions available


Fitness Support Worker
The Fitness Support Worker is responsible for enforcing the rules and policies of the
fitness center. Fitness Support Worker is responsible for monitoring the fitness center
and all the participants. They must learn how to correctly use the weight machines and
be able to provide assistance when needed. Fitness Support Worker will learn how to
correctly exercise a muscle or group of muscles. Additional responsibilities include
cleaning the machines and cardio equipment, practicing good customer service and
applying risk management skills. Morning, night or weekend hours are required. All
Fitness Support Workers must be First Aid/CPR/AED certified.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following responsibilities:

Properly handle Sipeknekatik Fitness Centre Cash and sign off daily deposit sheets
and submit to Recreation manager daily

Maintain Fitness Equipment and report of any damage to fitness equipment


machines

Start shift duties, this includes but not limited to, daily sign in sheets, ensuring
cleanliness of facility, opening cash, etc.

Secure fitness facility upon closing this includes but not limited to stat sheet
completion, closing cash, cleanliness of facility; ensure entry points are locked and
secured

Ensure the fitness facility policies and rules are in place and being enforced;
complete incident/accident reports as needed

Maintain cleanliness of fitness facility throughout shifts and upon closing of


employee shift, this includes but not limited to, washrooms, windows, fitness
equipment, floors, and etc.

Encourage, guide, support, and assist patrons with using fitness equipment properly

Maintain a positive attitude and report any issue(s) to Recreation Manager

Provide a safe environment for staff and participants

Develop knowledge of fitness components i.e.: personal training, group fitness,


nutrition, etc.

Knowledgeable on how to correctly use and adjust machines

Knowledgeable on spotting techniques in the weight room

Provide customer service to patrons

Submit reports for broken or damaged equipment

Scan ID card for entry into facility

Handle Fitness Centre Admin duties such as but not limited to, photo copy any forms
needed, membership cards, receipts, proof of purchase sheets, etc.

Other job duties as requested

Must be certified in First Aid, certificate required


Must be certified in CPR/AED, certificate required
May be required to work early mornings, night, holidays, and weekends
Personal Training/Fitness Training certificate is not mandatory but is an asset
Must have a Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
Criminal Record Check, certificate required
Child Abuse Registry Check, certificate required
*If it is deemed that all qualifications are equal, preference will be given to
registered persons of Aboriginal descent. Pay is minimum wage and
successful applicant is subject to a week 5 review*
