International Exchange Consultant for the Ship For World Youth Program, operated by the Cabinet Office
of Japan.
October 2008 – March 2009

August 2009 – March 2010

Participated as a Course Discussion Facilitator/Administration Staff member, of the Ship For World Youth
Program (http://www.shipforworldyouth.org/), operated by the Center for International Youth Exchange
– CENTERYE of the Cabinet Office of Japan and carried out in the months of January to March each year.
During the early stages of the program, teamed-up with Japanese advisors to create a theme-based
discussion course, comprised of 7 sessions, to be carried out during the program. During the preparation
stages of the program, worked as a minute-taker for conferences between participating countries’
government representatives and the Japanese government, as well as preparatory meetings between
Japanese Government officers and participating youth leaders. During the actual Program, worked as
translator for overseas/Japanese participants and acted as a link between the participating youth,
advisors and the administration staff. Also, during the Port of call activities in New Zealand, Tonga, India
and United Arab Emirates, was responsible for organizing participants’ movement within the cities and
coordinate schedules with the local staff members.

Communications/Content Manager and Press Advisor for the Santa Catarina State Government’s
National Coordination Secretariat – Brazil
August 2005 – March 2007

Content Manager for the Secretariat’s website (http://www.san.sc.gov.br) and responsible for the
Secretariat’s internal and external communications. Common activities included reporting of the State
Secretary’s activities, coordination of in-house communication, as well as communication with mass
media vehicles such as newspapers, radio and TV stations, training of local personnel for hearings and
presentations with Government Officials: management of the Secretary of State’s communications with
the Brazilian President, Ministers of State, Governors, Senators and several national and local authorities.

Free-lance Journalist January 2003 – July 2005


Free-lance coverage in different areas of expertise, most related to the Brazilian Government, such as
Ministry of Education’s reforms, National Congress daily activities. Research and publication of news
related to the “Emasculated boys from Altamira” trial, widely known for the brutality of the murders. Live
coverage of the trial sessions on a dedicated website, as well as research and production of support
material to the prosecution.

Ultimo-Segundo news website content manager February 2002 – October 2002


Content Manager and political analyst stationed at the Federal Senate for the Ultimo-Segundo news
website (http://ultimosegundo.ig.com.br/), specializing in real-time coverage of the daily activities of
congressmen and senators, as well as other important matters such as Supreme Court rulings, Ministerial
Meetings and Presidential ceremonies. During the month of July, was relocated to the website’s
headquarters to assist in the coverage of the 2002 World Cup of Soccer. Coverage of the Final Match at
the Brazilian National Squad’s captain “Cafu” in Sao Paulo, with live real-time reporting for the website.

Journalism Intern/Online content manager at the Brazilian Government’s National Indigenous Foundation
(Funai)
February 2001 – January 2002

Stationed at the General-Coordination of External Affairs. Main activities include reporting on the daily
activities of the Foundation’s headquarters (including President and Directors) as well as its local
branches (located in each of the 27 states of the Federative Republic of Brazil) and content
management for the Foundation’s website (www.funai.gov.br), a bi-monthly magazine and an in-house
newspaper. Other assignments included photographic coverage of the Foundation’s events, as well as
digital editing of the bi-monthly magazine. During this period, was included in the team that organized
and coordinated the “IV Indigenous Peoples’ Traditional Olympic Games” in the State of Mato Grosso do
Sul. Worked together with a graphic artist to create the concept, implement and supervise an original
website that would host real time coverage of the sporting events, with information about the history of
the Games, as well as background information on each of the traditional sports and participating tribes.
During the 7-day program, provided real-time and photographic coverage of the competition, with
special features on cultural performances, updated hourly on the website.

Technical Assistant for the Consumer Rights Defense, Environment and Minorities Committee of the
Brazilian Federal Government’s House of Representatives. August 1997 – July 1998

Provided technical support to the work of the Committee, as well as assisting Congressmen’s work in the
areas of Consumer Rights Defense, Environment and Minorities. (Committee currently known as
Environment and Sustainable Development Committee)

Research conducted as a Japanese Ministry of Culture, Education, Sports, Science and Technology
scholar, at the Osaka University Graduate School of Language and Culture, on the theme “The Influence
of American Mass Media in Brazilian and Japanese Societies”.

University of Brasilia – Japanese language and literature major January 2004 – April 2007
Concluded 6 out of 8 Semesters of study in the Japanese Language and Literature Major of the University
of Brasilia. During this period, volunteered as staff member for the International Japanese Students and
Professors Forum, which took place at the University campus. Worked as interpreter for foreign professors
and assistant to lecturers.

August 1999 – December 2002

Graduated with the highest grade with a Graduation Thesis on the influence of American MTV’s insertion
in Brazilian youth society. As part of the Graduation requirements, created, narrated, and edited a 30-
minute radio show that talked about Brasilia’s local underground musical trends. As another requirement
for graduation, led a team of 4 students in the creation and edition of a 15-minute Television

documentary regarding possibilities of internships in the Journalism field in the city of Brasilia. The
documentary aimed at instructing Journalism freshmen as to the internship possibilities in Brasilia.
