CYNTHIA COTTE GRIFFITHS 
Cynthia has spent a decade in development and communications for nonprofit organizations including The Wilderness 
Society, Montgomery Housing Partnership, and an AmeriCorps program.  She currently works to create experiences both 
online and in‐person for clients. Since 2008, she plans all community events for the 
Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless including galas, housing provider conferences 
and walkathons. She also produces client and award videos and advises on all social media.  

Since 2007, Ms. Cotte Griffiths has been Editor and Writer at RockvilleCentral.com, a volunteer 
hyperlocal blog featuring articles and opinions about community news, issues, public meetings, 
events, volunteer opportunities, the arts and development. Rockville Central had 195,500 page 
views in 2009.  Other online endeavors include personally blogging at TryingNotToBNeg.com 
about all aspects of individual and organizational improvement, and joining the new 
RockvilleLiving.com Magazine as the managing editor of the Style section in April 2010. 

Cynthia volunteers in the community as Chair of the City of Rockville Human Service Advisory Commission, Committee 
Chairman of Cub Scout Pack 928, and International Night Outreach Coordinator at Ritchie Park Elementary.  She attended 
Gettysburg College and became completely enthralled by a Philosophy class during the first year resulting in a Philosophy 
major with a Sociology minor. Ms. Cotte Griffiths dabbled in graduate classes in nonprofit management at New York 
University while working for the Chancellor. She also received a certificate of Computer Graphics, Art and Animation from 
Montgomery College back when the internet was first launching.  Fun means kickboxing, running, yoga, camping, local 
music, art and motorcycle riding while spending lots of family time with her husband and two sons around their Rockville, 
Maryland home. 

 
 
 
ERIC ROBBINS 
Eric has lived in the DC area for 10 years now – seven of those in Silver Spring. His move to Thayer Avenue in 2006 imbued 
him with such a sense of neighborhood and community that he began ThayerAvenue.com in 2007. 
 
Originally, ThayerAvenue.com was built as a community resource for neighborhood 
collaboration, but it soon became a soapbox for various issues such as development, historic 
designation, and archaic Montgomery County liquor laws. Since then, he has become more 
involved in the community, including joining his local civic association, participating in organized 
neighborhood activities, and working on local political campaigns. 
 
Hot‐button issues near and dear to ThayerAvenue.com include: building The Fillmore, smart growth, density in the CBD, 
ESSCA’s vocal minority not properly reflecting the community it purports to represent and serve, Saving Sligo Creek Golf 
Course, and local food and beverage establishments. 
 
A graphic designer by trade, Eric focuses on web design and development (though you would never guess it from looking at 
his blog), and enjoys golf, yardwork, being on the water, and spending time with his wife and 3‐year‐old daughter.
