First, read the instructions on the next pages and take note of the application period. When you have
gathered all the required documents, you can send this form, completed with the computer, and the
required documents during the application period by post to:
Universiteit Antwerpen, Registrars office-international students, City campus, building S, Lange St. Annastraat 7,
B-2000 Antwerp, Belgium.
Handwritten or incomplete forms, forms submitted by third parties or forms which were send after the application deadline
(based on the postmark date) will not be accepted.
This form cannot be used if you want to apply for an advanced master programme from the Institute for Development Policy and

Who should use this application form?
These instructions apply to future students who
have obtained a degree outside of Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg
and
are not exempted from this application as described on the admission webpage of the university
(https://www.uantwerpen.be/en/education/admission-and-enrolment/)
and
wish to enrol in a bachelor or (advanced) master of the Universiteit Antwerpen in 2016-2017
or
wish to enrol first in a preparatory language programme in Flanders in 2016-2017, followed by an
enrolment in a bachelor or (advanced) master programme in 2017-2018

When should I submit the application?


The application period opens on December 01, 2015
The application period closes on
February 28, 2016* for nationalities other than from the EEA** member states
April 30, 2016* for nationalities of the EEA** member states

* add 30 days to the application deadlines for the English master programmes in the case of a positive
pre-screening

How can I make sure that I submit a valid and complete application?
Depending on your chosen programme, you need to enclose the documents relevant to your case. The
necessary documents are defined on the next pages. An incomplete application file will not be
accepted.
Some documents may need to be legalised. To assist you with the legalisation of the necessary

Handwritten or incomplete forms, forms without the signature of the applicant, forms submitted by third
parties or forms which were send after the application deadline (based on the postmark date) will not be
accepted.

How long will it take to get an answer and how will I be kept up-to-date about my
application?
You will be informed within six to eight weeks after receiving your complete file about the result of your
application by mail. This result will also be send through registered mail if permission to enrol has been
granted. The approval of your application needs to be presented upon enrolment. If you need to apply
for a visum dont wait until the last minute to submit your application. The university is not responsible if
you cant apply in time for a visum.

Is there something else I should know about submitting an application?


Please note that no documents (including copies) of the application file will be returned. Never submit
original diplomas or graduation certificates with your file as they could get lost in the mail. Always make
a copy of all documents for your archive before submitting the application file.

A. The following documents should ALWAYS be present in your application file:


1. a completed and signed application form Admission for students with a foreign diploma
(see page 1)
2. a copy of your valid passport or identity card
3. a curriculum vitae (CV), indicating a least the following data:
surname and first name(s)
place and date of birth
overview of all previous studies (secondary and higher education)
if applicable: overview of professional activities
if applicable, details on how you do or will fullfill the language proficiency requirements
(see D.)
4. a motivation letter (500-1000 words in English or Dutch)
5. only for students with a nationality outside the European Economic Area (EEA): to start the
evaluation of your application file the payment of 50 is required. A proof of the
payment of 50 needs to be added to your application file. Payment can be done by bank
transfer.

6. only for students with a degree from China: an APS certificate. More information can be

B. The following documents should be added to A. if you wish to apply for a


BACHELOR programme:
1. a legalised copy of the diploma of secondary education
If the diploma has been issued in another language than Dutch, English, French or German, a
translation into one of these languages needs to be added to the legalised copy of the diploma. The
translation has to be done by a sworn translator and the translation itself has to be legalised!

2. if applicable, a list of the obtained result(s) of the secondary education courses


The list has to be provided with the stamp of the distributing college or university.

C. The following documents should be added to A. if you wish to apply for a


MASTER or an ADVANCED MASTER programme:
1. a legalised copy of the diploma of higher education that gives access to the chosen
program
If the diploma has been issued in another language than Dutch, English, French or German, a
translation into one of these languages needs to be added to the legalised copy of the diploma. The
translation has to be done by a sworn translator and the translation itself has to be legalised!
Applicants that are enrolled in the final year of their academic bachelor or master programme should submit
1) an original stamped and signed official letter in English from their university confirming that the student is
expected to finalize his/her program at the end of the current academic year
2) up-to-date authenticated transcripts with the results of the previous years.

Please note that the legalised copy of the diploma is still needed for enrolment.

2. a full overview of the attended courses (academic transcript) AND their description
The academic transcript contains at least the following data:
all attended courses and their study load (indicated in contact hours and credits);
the examination results;
if applicable, the title of the dissertation;
the final evaluation
The description is not the same as your academic transcript. The description should provide a summary of each
course listed on your academic transcript. It can usually be found in the study guide of your university. Your
application will not be processed without this document. The academic transcript and the description have to be
written in Dutch, English, French or German. Translation by a sworn translator is not necessary.
The academic transcript (but not the description) has to be provided with the stamp of the distributing college or
university.

3. if applicable, a summary (500-1000 words) of the dissertation

The summary of the dissertation has to be written in Dutch, English, French or German.

D. The following document(s) can be added at the time of the application but
should certainly be present at the time of enrolment:
1. proof of language proficiency

for programmes with the instruction language Dutch:


Students who have not yet passed successfully one year of secondary education or higher
education (or subjects for at least 54 credits) in Dutch must provide us with one of the following
certificates (not older than two years) as proof of proficiency in Dutch:
a. Interuniversitaire Taaltest Nederlands (for more information: Linguapolis:
http://www.linguapolis.be/ or e-mail taaltestnederlands@uantwerpen.be)
b. Certificate Nederlands als Vreemde Taal
c. Diploma Nederlands Staatsexamen II
Language level C1 is always required for language related programmes. Level B2 is required for all other
programmes. Check the website https://www.uantwerpen.be/en/education/international/internationalstudents/degree-students/education-offer/language-requirement/ for more information

for programmes with the instruction language English


Students who apply for a programme taught in English need to add their ITACE, TOEFL or IELTS
score to their application file. Do not have it send directly from the ITACE, TOEFL or IELTS centre
(this will only delay the processing of the application), but send it together with the other
requested documents.

2. only for registration for medical studies (bachelor or master): a copy of the certificate of
passing the entrance examination medical doctor/dentist
The entrance examination medical doctor/dentist is organised each year by the Flemish Ministry of Education.

For obtaining a shortening of duration of study based upon a diploma of medical doctor obtained outside
Belgium you need to add the certificate of passing the Interuniversity entrance examination for medicine partial equivalence. This examination is organised by the Vlaamse Interuniversitaire Raad (VLIR). For more
