Leading Law Firms

Forum

The Legal Profession as a vehicle for trade and investment in East Africa

2
For four years now, the EALS Leading Law Firms
forum has provided a platform for globally minded
law firms across East Africa to come together and
share experiences and growth strategies. Over the
period, and as noted in the attached testimony
page, firms, both established and emergent, have
found out that the forum provides a wealth of
contacts with the potential to transform into
lucrative business opportunities in the period
following their participation.
This years edition aims to continue the proud
tradition started in 2011, and in keeping with the
core ethos of the Leading Law Firms ensure that
East African Lawyers claim their rightful role in
the highly competitive and lucrative investment
and economic growth opportunities unfolding
across the region. This years Leading Law Firms
Forum will feature discussions around the theme
The Legal profession as a vehicle for trade and
investment in East Africa
In a bid to blend business and the law, the 2015
edition of the Leading Law firms forum will
feature a keynote presentation by Mr. Ali Mufuruki

speaker and leadership coach.
He is co-founder and chairman of the CEO
roundtable of Tanzania, a policy dialogue forum
that brings together more than 100 CEOs of leading
companies in Tanzania.

Africa and beyond.

Bora Ltd(Tanzania).
Mr. Mufuruki brings a wealth of practical business
expertise and tremendous experience, and he will
be making a presentation on Global Perspectives
on Managing Successful Businesses which will
highlight demonstrated best practices in business
development and sustenance
To ensure that presentation by Mr. Mufuruki is
tempered by a view through the legal lens, the
Hon. Justice Prof. James Otieno-Odek, of the
Supreme Court of Kenya will be discussant. Hon.
Justice Prof. Otieno-Odek is the outgoing Dean
of the School of Law, of the University of Nairobi,

Executive Committee of WIPO.
We are certain that the distinguished speaker and
discussant will set the stage for a lively and engaging
discussion at which you will not only participate,
but also share your perspectives on how the
confluence of business and the law can transform
trade and investment in East Africa. At a micro
level, the forum should also enable the participants
position themselves and their law firms to leverage
the investment and trade opportunities existing in
East Africa today.
