A TEAM PERSON
With his presence in the triathlon scene,
Kuya Kim has unmistakably become one of
the new poster boys of the multisport event.
It could be chalked up to his dedication
and intense passion for fitnessbut also,
to his coaches.
Since day one, he knew the importance to
train under experts and learn to do things
the right way. For swim and for run, its
very important to have a training coach,
he admits. Swim is like golf. You can be
the strongest, the most fit person, but if
your technique is wrong, youll get tired.
But if your technique is right, you can do it
forever. You can do ten kilometers and not
get tired, he says.
The same works for running, he says the
coach will help you develop the right form
to prevent injuries and watch you as you
do intervals, because intervals are painful.
Without a coach watching you, you wont
do it. Without a team running with you, if
you do it alone, you wont do it, he adds.
He says it all from experience. He went
from curious watcher to strategic learner to
one zealous triathlete. Its because he sets
his goals, and sets them high. And if only
to hold himself accountable for meeting his
goals, he shares his workout to his Twitter
and Facebook followers, who he inspires in
the process.
There are many inspiring things about
his fitness journey, and this time around,
theres no stopping him. This is his second
life and so he chooses to return to his old
love, which once upon a time required him
to stretch his muscles in tight-fitting lycra
outfits but which now inspires him to swim,
bike, and run under the sun. PF

female sports caster: confidence
& good looks. But when one gets
drenched in the middle of a championship
celebration and still maintain poise and
focus while delivering information to all
the rabid basketball fans on live national
television, you know it takes more than just
the skill.
Erika Padilla understands her audience.
And she loves the sport. She was a fan of
basketball all her teenage years and until
now. It is this keen sense of knowing what
the viewers want to hear and throwing the
right questions at the players at just the rightt
time makes her a stand-out in this maledominated world of basketball.

Antioxidant water.
Even without a blender you can still
have great healthy beverages like water infusions. This recipe is a refreshing antioxidant and antibacterial drink,
also packed with more good stuff like
vitamins and minerals naturally from
the fruits and herbs.
Ingredients:
Citrus slices (lemon, orange, lime)
5 stalks mint leaves
6 pcs. Basil leaves
1 liter purified water
Procedure:
Mix citrus slices and herbs in a pitcher
and smash them a bit with a spoon, fill
pitcher with purified water and leave
the infusion in the chiller overnight
before serving.

near the famous Maginhawa
string of restos in Quezon City.

Fitness and Run for Change! More

These were among the heartwarming and
inspiring feedbacks received after the staging
of the 1st Pinoy Fitness Run For Change event
held last December 16, 2012 at Bonifacio
Global City. The run event was in cooperation
with Run4Change to help provide athletic
scholarships grants for athletes who wish to
pursue Masteral or Doctorate degrees in Sports
Science or related fields schools and to sponsor
uniforms, training equipment and provide meal
allowances for numerous Varsity Teams from
different schools.
One of the highlights of this event was its being
a Green Race run made possibly together with
Nathan. No littered plastic nor paper cups
scattered along the routes.
Only refilling water stations. Participants
welcomed this environment-friendly practice
and hopefully it continues.

again converge to race at the Condura
Skyway Marathon that took place last
February 3, 2013. Where each runner through
their registration, gets to donate three
mangrove seedlings which will be planted
in his/her name as part of the advocacy
of helping with the reforestation of the
Mangroves in Zamboanga de Sibugay in
partnership with Philippine Tropical Forest
Conservation Foundation (PTFCF).
