Workshop: Status Updates, Snapchats & Text Wars: Navigating Networked Relationships
Wednesday, February 17th| Lerner Room 555, 7:00-8:30PM
With the aid of technology, people rely heavily on emojis, abbreviated texts, and pics to get to know
each other and communicate in relationships. In this interactive workshop, participants will
explore how social media networks, cell phones, and the internet can impact relationships both
positively and negatively, as well as learn strategies for healthy technological interactions. Led
by Sexual Violence Response staff and volunteers.

Workshop: Close Quarters
Friday, February 19th | Buell Hall, 3:30- 5:30 PM
Designed to help you navigate safe, consensual and respectful experiences within personal
boundaries, this workshop, on navigating dating, hookups and the walk of shame on campus and
in dorms may be great for undergraduates and those living in residential halls. Led by Francisco
Ramirez.

Whats your personal history related to gender? How did you learn to be the gender you are? Come
think and talk about gender facts and myths, and about who benefits (and doesnt) in the
nature/nurture debate in a workshop that enthusiastically engages feminist critique. Led by Tara

Workshop: Media Matters: Analyzing Messages from Bud Light to Bloomingdales
Monday, February 22nd | Lerner, Room 555, 4:00-5:30 PM
In the world of pop-up and banner ads, we are surrounded by multimedia trying to influence our
thinking and purchasing. But what do some ad campaigns tell us about gender and sexual violence?
This media literacy workshop explores the impact of print media on societys view of sexual
violence, and how the media could be used to cultivate a culture of gender equity and nonviolence. Led by Sexual Violence Response staff and volunteers.

Film: Hip Hop: Beyond the Beats and Rhymes

An acclaimed film by a lifelong hip-hop fan and former college quarterback, Hip-Hop examines the
gender politics of hip-hop music, masculinity and manhood. Aired widely on PBSs Independent

Workshop: Sex in the Digital Age
Friday, February 26th | Buell Hall, 3:30- 5:30 PM
What is safer sexting? How do you manage your mobile and media? This workshop examines online
hookups and the role of technology in sex today, including analyses of sexts and real-world
examples of poor communication. Led by Francisco Ramirez.

Workshop: Step Up & Get SAVI, Part II: Preventing Sexual Assault/Violence through
Bystander Intervention
Sunday, February 28th| Lerner Room 555, 3:00-4:30PM
Building upon the knowledge and skills presented in the Step UP! & Get SAVI program held during
NSOP 2015, this interactive session explores bystander intervention as it relates to intimate partner
violence, as well as warning signs of abusive behaviors and what to do if you observe/witness an
abusive relationship. Students will learn dynamics and realities of intimate partner violence,
effective strategies for bystander intervention, and about resources and services available at
Columbia. Led by Sexual Violence Response staff and volunteers.

Workshop: We Were On a Break! Communication & Negotiation


Saturday, March 5th| Lerner Room 555, 11:00-12:30PM
Ross & Rachel, the infamous couple from Friends who were rarely on the same page, are the
inspiration to talk about communication and negotiation styles. Participants will watch one of the
most memorable episodes ("The One with the Jelly Fish"- Season 4, Episode
1) about miscommunication, then discuss communication in relationships and discover their
