Paint the Town organizers are taking steps to
restore several homes
with a fresh coat of
paint while building a
stronger sense of community. Created by former DASH board
member, Frank Cox,
the event brings business, homeowners,
faith groups and neighbors together to revitalize homes and restore

The LORD does hear our cry

of need. Yes! Tears are a language God understands.
Many of us think we are
strong enough for any situation. We think we can take
care of our selves and our

think they are good enough,
that, they don't need help

But, dear Christian friends,
there will come a time when
we reach our limits. We will
realize our weakness. We
then find out we can't even
help our self especially anyone else.
It's at the time of deep
despair that we turn to God
and cry out for help. Our
LORD can, and, will give us
help, hope, and healing for
our souls.
The last part of this verse got
my attention and he gave
ear unto me. WOW! YES!
The GOD of all does listen to
his children's cry for help.
Our heavenly father cares

Jesus, our savior, has sent

I put my carry-on in the
luggage compartment and
sat down in my assigned
seat. It was going to be a
long flight. 'I'm glad I have
a good book to read.
Perhaps I
will get a short nap,' I
thought.
Just before take-off, a line
of soldiers came down the
aisle and filled all the
vacant seats, totally surrounding me. I decided to
start a conversation.
"Where are
you headed?" I asked the
soldier seated nearest to me.

"Great Lakes Air Base.
We'll be there for two
weeks for special training,
and then we're being
deployed to Iraq," he
answered.
After flying for about an
hour, an announcement was
made that sack lunches
were available for five dollars. It would be several
hours before we reached
Chicago, and I quickly
decided a lunch would help
pass the time.
As I reached for my wallet,

I overheard the soldier ask
his buddy if he planned to
buy lunch. "No, that seems
like a lot of money for just
a sack lunch. Probably
wouldn't be worth five
bucks. I'll wait till we get
to Chicago."
His friend agreed.
I looked around at the other
soldiers. None were buying
lunch. I walked to the back
of the plane and handed the
flight attendant a fifty dollar
bill. "Take a lunch to all
those soldiers." She

grabbed my arms and
squeezed tightly. Her eyes
wet with tears, she thanked
me. "My son was a soldier
in Iraq... it's almost
like you are doing it for
him."
Picking up ten sacks, she
headed up the aisle to where
the soldiers were seated.
She stopped at my seat and
asked, "Which do you like
best - beef or chicken?"
"Chicken," I replied, wondering why she asked.

front of plane, returning a
minute later with a dinner
plate from first class. "This
is your thanks."
After we finished eating, I
went again to the back of
the plane, heading for the
rest room. A man stopped
me.

Heart attacks can be sudden, but most start slowly

When we landed in

friends who were
walking through the
desert. At some point
in the journey they had
an argument, and one
friend slapped the
other one in the face.
The one who got
slapped was hurt, but

own solutions to tackle the
all-too-familiar and dreadful symptoms.
Today its thought that 70

garlic, and the juice of at
least half of a lime, is
taken before bedtime. The
garlic and lime juice, rich
in vitamin C, boosts immunity.
In France: For those with
the flu, a homeopathic
approach is taken using
Oscillococcinum. This
unusually named medicine
has been a favorite flu
fighter of the French for
more than 70 years.
Clinical studies show that
it reduces the duration and
the severity of fever, chills,
fatigue, headache and body
aches. It is recommended
that you take it at the first
sign of flu symptoms.
In China: A restorative
dish is made from healing
fritillaria bulbs (Chuan bei
mu) and an Asian pear. The
center of the pear is
scooped out to form a
bowl. A teaspoon of honey
is mixed with fritillaria
extract, which is then
poured into the pear. The
covered dish is steamed for
45 minutes to create a
warm elixir to soothe the
throat. For maximum
effect, a honeysuckle and
licorice root tea chaser provides added immune support.
In South America: A plate
of sliced onions is placed
on a nightstand overnight.
The scent from a freshly
chopped onion helps break
up mucus and congestion,
just as it causes the eyes to

water and nose to run
while cooking. Loaded
