Product description
Ruukki SP2D W, Ruukki SPB W, Ruukki SPC W
Ruukki sandwich panels with hard mineral wool core are universal and modern product, they
possess favourable value of acoustic insulation and high fire resistance which enables their
application as fire partitions. A wide gamut of facings colours and profilings and possibility
of joining with window and door joinery enable to erect interesting construction and architectural
works of light housing external and internal walls, as well as roofs of construction works of various
size and destination.

Product range
Ruukki SP2D W, SPB W and SPC W sandwich panels
are composed of two steel sheet facings and a structural
insulation core of hard mineral wool featured with
excellent fire resistance properties. Panel facings are
made of metal sheet galvanised on both sides. Facing
parameters comply with the parameters of S280GD +
Z 275 or S320GD + Z 275 steel in accordance with to
PN-EN 10326:2006. Standard versions of the sheets are
polyester coated. For corrosive enviroments as well as
for the use in food industries etc., we offer sheets with
PVDF or PVC coatings.
Film is added on both sides to protect panels against
mechanical damage during loading, unloading, storage
and installation. The core is made of hard mineral wool.
The mineral wools nominal density is of 120 kg/m3 and
design thermal conductivity ratio ldesign is of
0.045 W/mK in temp. 10C.
Features
Ruukki panels with mineral wool cores are featured with
an excellent fire resistance (45 to 120 minutes) and good
mechanical properties. Mineral wool with appropriate
fibre arrangement and reliable polyurethane adhesive
joint between the core and steel facings allow for 6 metre
spans between supports.

Areas of application
Ruukki mineral wool core panels are used for claddings
of industrial, manufacturing and sports facilities, wholesale/retail outlets, exhibition halls, offices, service outlets,
hangars, garages, workshops, administrative and public
utility buildings as well as storage facilities, including cold
stores, frozen warehouses, etc.
The panel production technology used by the manufacturer allows for selecting appropriate organic coating
for a specific application. For detailed information on
thermal, waterproofing, strength, acoustic, fire safety
and anti-corrosive properties, see below in this catalogue.
The type and panel arrangements are determined by
designers depending on intended use of the facility,
operating conditions, possible impact of internal environment and weather conditions.
Thermal performance
The mineral wool forming the core of Ruukki SP2D W,
SPB W and SPC W panels is featured with good thermal
insulating power. Their computational thermal conductivity coefficient (ldesign) is of 0.045 W/mK. U thermal
transmittance coefficient values for middle panel layers
are listed in Table 1.

Notes:
Given load values refer to panels mounted with minimum 3 fasteners on panel width.
If panels are mounted with 2 fasteners on width, values given in Table 5 should be taken as admissible loads (like for panels supported
linearly on entire width), reduced by 30% for rigidity and 45% for load capacity.
It should be acknowledged that strength operating on 1 fastener should not exceed 1.0 kN for fasteners with steel washer
and 0.9 kN for fasteners with aluminum washer.

Corrosion resistance
Owing to the application of properly selected organic
coatings, constituting the final protective layer for (external and/or internal) Ruukki sandwich panel facings
or non-standard facings (external and/or internal)
depending on particular demands various corrosion
resistance can be achieved.
Studies carried out by Durability and Corrosion Protection Department of the ITB (Building Research Institute),
which aimed at assessment of corrosion resistance of
the coatings and facings listed below showed that:
Ruukki sandwich panels with standard polyester coatings (25 m thick) are suitable for use in C1 to C3
environments according to PN-EN ISO 12944-2:2001,
Ruukki non-standard sandwich panels with PVDF
coatings (25 m thick) are suitable for use in C1 to C3
environments according to PN-EN ISO 12944-2:2001,
Ruukki non-standard sandwich panels with PVC coatings (120 m thick) are suitable for use in C1 to C3
environments according to PN-EN ISO 12944-2:2001.

Fire performance
Ruukki panel claddings with mineral wool core are
classified in terms of:
fire resistance,
fire spreading.
Fire resistance and fire spreading are used to describe
walls and roof coverings.

Only special screw guns may be used for fixing fasteners. (Fig. 3)
Do not install panels in wind exceeding 9 m/s, during
precipitation or in heavy fog.
At the end of each working day, remove all swarf and
dirt produced during plate assembly.
Elevation/outer side of Ruukki panels with mineral
wool core is marked with overprint on panel side:
elewacja outside a.
Arrows indicate external facing of panel.
Assembly inconsistent with marking will cause loss of
warranty!
Ruukki Polska recommends detailed drawing solutions
included in this brochure but final decision about particular shape of design should be taken by designer.
Ruukki Polska is not responsible for effects of wrong
designing and assembly errors.
It is recommended to cut panels with fine-toothed blades and to cut flashings with snips. Do not use angle
grinders to cut panels and flashings! (Fig. 2.)
During assembly, press panels into place with fixing
tool 1410 (made by Ruukki Polska) the tool helps to
ensure proper piece joining without risking any damage.
Panels should be fastened to structures with fasteners recommended by sandwich panel manufacturer.
Fastener types and dimensions are listed in Table 21.
Any other fasteners should be pre-approved by the
manufacturer.
